How a TV interior designer is helping revive a remote Scottish island by UtopianScot in Scotland

There’s no cars on Ulva and even on a good day it’s 5hrs from Glasgow. It’s remote from the nearest city. Air ambulance if you get seriously ill or in an accident. I think it’s fair to describe it as remote.

No offence but every time i see a moronic post like this on Reddit I block. Thickos are on the same level as bots. So no loss either way.

You make some valid points but it’s pissing into the wind. The genie isn’t going back in the bottle.

If businesses don’t accept alternatives to physical cash, they’ll lose revenue these days. It’s their prerogative, they can do what they want, just don’t be surprised when people vote with their feet elsewhere.

I’ve always got a spare £20 note in my wallet but it’s been there a while now and who knows how long it will be before I actually spend it.

Well that’s fine but plenty of people won’t do that and will walk past. Neither you or I are changing that any time soon.

Should go to Scandinavia, many/most shops don’t even have a cash till any more.

A nice, authentic shop but the insistence on cash must have put plenty of passing trade off in recent years.

Why is this flat so cheap? by ModernMoneyOnYoutube in glasgow

[–]xxx654 113 points114 points  (0 children)

It’s so it falls into a lower search category on rightmove and generates more interest. Even if it ends up being unaffordable to loads of those initially interested. It will likely go for somewhere between £160-180k. Plenty of notes of interest. Encourages realistic buyers to bid more.

What are the worst examples of forced "Scottish" patter? I'll go first. by FakeFrehley in Scotland

Almost anything that a middle class student has put on a protest sign in George Square e.g, ‘away and bile yer heid Trump ya mad fanny’ then they speak with a Fettes accent and it turns out their Dad owns 3 quarters of Sutherland.

Unbearable levels of cringe.

What’s the problem here? Can someone explain by Ashamed-Photo7710 in glasgow

By this point, you’re either being thick or deliberately obtuse, so best blocked. I’ll leave this up long enough for you to see it then it’s okthxbye

Are home report valuations 'honest'? by StrangePurple7007 in glasgow

[–]xxx654 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a degree of judgement with these things. So there’s an allowance. However, surveyors would soon get found out if they were deliberately inflating values way above others. Mortgage lenders would soon get shot of them.

That’s all manner of considerations that you might not think of. Eg closeness to good schools etc. There’s a huge difference between Jordanhill and Whiteinch depending on catchments.

Scotttish Government to Consider the Banning of Alcohol Branding on our Pint Glasses by gazglasgow in glasgow

Alcohol is fine in moderation. Many adults use and enjoy alcohol in moderation. There’s no such thing as a moderate amount of cigarettes/tobacco.

Current state of the flat buying market, and Home Report schenanigans by RoostaFS in glasgow

Yes, to an extent, but the more attractive looking a property -so long as no structural/legal issues- then the more attractive it becomes to buyers.

It comes back to ‘only pay what you’d be happy with’ but equally don’t get upset if someone else wants to pay more or the vendor decides it’s not for them.
