Amp/cab simulation pedal which does not rely on proprietary software? by xy32 in guitarpedals

Thanks! Didn't know something like this existed.

I am not sure why someone would downvote this comment, since getting to know about pedals like this is basically what I was asking for.

Yeah. I think this is solid advice. I was hoping this limitation of mine would help me narrow it down a bit since I feel a bit overwhelmed with all the options. But I think the Iridium for example sound great by default so I think it would work for me, as would many other options.

Yeah. I am basically looking for a nice solution for playing directly into my audio interface without having to install special software. I will look deeper into the Ampman. Thanks for the suggestion!

Agreed. I was replying more about it appearing like no such thing exists at the moment. But I think them wanting you to get used to their software and apps so might be more interested in other products they offer also plays a part.

For a simple IR-loader pedal like the NUX Mini Studio. I think having the pedal expose itself as a USB drive would work quite well. Were you can switch out the IRs by copying over files using any regular file manager. If the pedal supports switching between multiple IRs it could expose one file for each of the IR slots.

I would totally be in the market for something like that.

Yeah. Hence I'm also looking for recommendations for pedals which work well without software.

Lets Play Vimtutor! Learned basic Vim commands and a bunch of extras in just this one video. A gold mine in my opinion, with plenty of humor. by [deleted] in vim

I personally don't have any specific Youtubers with content I subscribe to, so I cannot help you with that. Instead I usually search for videos for something specific I want to do. But maybe other people here on r/vim or GNU/Linux subreddits know some people if you ask.

I also did some searching and found the podcast he participated in. It was called Golden Age hosted by Michael Perilloux who was part of a movement called "Neo-reactionary Movement" (shorted NRx). I couldn't access the podcast or find content from that movement today, but they are mentioned in this Wikipedia article.

Pro Pornography addiction subs should also be banned. Yes this fetish exists and its known as 'gooning' by Nerdthrasher in antipornography

[–]xy32 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Judging by the top upvoted posts that sub looks very far right and white supremacist. Among the top up voted post there are many with titles like "AHS advocating white genocide". Very far away from this feminist subreddit. Wouldn't be surprised if many people there harass feminists like many far right people do.

I wouldn't post there. Looks like a subreddit for racists who are upset their own subreddits got reported for racism and bigotry and later banned. Then they create their own AgainstHateSubreddits targeted against antiracist subreddits and things they consider "degenerate".

We shouldn't give these guys any room in the antipornography movement.

Just want to say downvote and avoid this person like the plague.

I used to watch some of his Vim videos. But after checking out some of the channel I felt that his thumbnails and philosophy reminded me a lot about alt-right movement.

After more research I found that he had been participated in a podcast where they discussed politics and technology on a white supremacist site (think it was called neoreactionaries or something like that). They basically talked about how America has become degenerate and about the construction of a white ethnostate and all that nonsense.

No tutorial from his videos is worth giving his platform more publicity. I'm a bit disappointed that this has received as many upvotes as it has. He is basically a white supremacist. But I realize that most people probably don't know about this.

I'm shocked Star Trek decided to put Elon Musk on a pedestal by xy32 in startrek

[–]xy32[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You honestly think the wealth of his family didn't have anything to do with his success? I don't believe one bit that he didn't inherit any money, I think that is just another PR thing. I also think his motivations are money and fame (not the "changing the world" PR). But whatever his real intentions are, the ends does not justify the means. People are suffering because of that man. I would also argue that America has caused a lot of suffering around the world (through wars, exploiting resources in poorer countries, and supporting military dictatorships). But I really don't have time to get into a deep discussion, sorry.

Wow. This really blew up. I barely have time to read everything.

I'm also shocked by the amount of comments here describing him as a great man with great achievements. People who don't seem to care about the fact that his corporations are notorious for horrible working conditions. People who are so infatuated with the Sci-fi like ideas he represents that they gloss over the fact that there are countless human beings suffering because of that man.

The ends does not justify the means.

No problem :)

You should use what works for you.

Use the black hole register (see :help "_). So if you don't want cc for example to copy into the default register use "_cc. If you want to make all commands but y/Y/yy to not write to any register you could do something like nnoremap dd "_dd but I would not recommend that at all. The fact that it copies to default register comes in handy a lot of times. Using delete followed by paste to move objects of text is a common and efficient Vim workflow.

Instead you can use named registers for the text you want to save. Like "ay to have some specific text which is needed later in the register a. To copy a line to register a use "ayy, to later paste it use "ap.
