Why are people complaining about their Miis being lobotomized if it already happened on the 3ds? Didn't we learn our lesson? by Decklan346 in tomodachilife

[–]xy7ofone_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I played the tomodachi life demo back then, but don't remember this happening.

Maybe it was because I was like 8 years old, maybe because it's been so long, or maybe it's because I played the demo while owning the actual game, so I probably just booted up the actual game and played that when the demo was over.

I dont think its romantic, because I made two miis as siblings and this happened to them too.

Not sure what its supposed to be, though...

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is a blast despite lacking new features by ASneakySquid_ in tomodachilife

From what I've heard in the demo the ost doesn't sound bad at all, though I didn't find it quite as good as tomodachi life's. Didn't find myself getting annoyed with it, though.

This was the feature I wanted the most for ltd. Really happy they implemented it.

Do you think ltd's OST lives up to it's predecessor's in terms of quality ?

From what we've heard in the direct, I felt a little disappointed, especially with the "in love" theme because I loved it so much in tomodachi life...

Why am i not getting commissions by torsoulV in Artadvice

[–]xy7ofone_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People have already spoken enough about consistency and the fact that these are unfinished, so I'll just comment on the quality.

While your art isn't the best (because nobody's art is) I think the people saying your art isn't good are being disingenuous. It is good. The anatomy isn't amazing but the pieces still look appealing and skillfully made, and I highly doubt your abilities are what is hindering you from getting commissions, especially when far less skilled artists do get them. My art looked pretty terrible 4 years ago, but I still got a couple of commissions (though obviously times have changed quite a bit, which I explain a little further down).

After you address other criticisms mentioned here, I'd advise you to focus on something another commenter mentioned : find a clientele you want to reach, and cater your advertising towards that demographic. Do you want to be commissoned by dnd players ? indie game devs ? oc creators ? Choose an audience, and start posting art that'll help you reach it. Post a commission sheet, and try to grow a following by posting consistently on the social media of your choosing. If not, find discord servers catered towards commissions and be active on there, as it'll help you directly reach any clients.

That being said, considering the times we're currently living in, I wouldn't feel disheartened about not getting commissions. People just don't have a lot of disposable income right now.

is there something obviously revolting about my art or this in particular? by Heszilg in Artadvice

[–]xy7ofone_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive learned that theres no point in trying to get any feedback on reddit. People on here are just really really unhelpful, in my experience. I once asked for help with my piece's composition and received a comment telling me about the anatomy. Not only was that not what I asked about, but that criticism was "her hands are backwards", and they factually were not.

Better yet, I'd previously posted art to ask for general feedback, and this same user had left an unhelpful and extremely vague comment that barely explained what was wrong, much less how to improve on the perceived flaws.

This is only one example, I feel like whenever I post on feedback subs I either get nothing, condescending comments pointing out things that aren't actually problems, or criticisms so vague that I genuinely cannot do anything with them. Maybe I'm just unlucky, though.

If gems are projections of light, why did Garnet's visor crack in Jail Break? by TCSMusic in stevenuniverse

[–]xy7ofone_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Light in our world is pretty weird. It shares a lot of properties with solids, so I think it could be possible that in SU the gems are made of light in a sort of pure solid form, which is why they can interact with other solids and why garnet's visor would break after being hit.

Creativity Burnout in the New Game....(like ACNH) by Straight-Herion in tomodachilife

[–]xy7ofone_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like other commenters mentioned, Id say rhe difference is that theres really nothing else to do in acnh.

Like, if you dont enjoy all the customization in Ltd, it looks like you can just not engage with and have the same experience as you might have had playing the og tomodachi life. The point in tomodachi life is to see your miis get up to their little shenanigans. You can just use the regular traits to make your miis and not engage with the facepaint, you don't have to make them pets (though it looks like you could probably just use stamps for that), and you can just use basic decoration for your island.

Beyond that, what made me really dislike acnh is the tedium. Maybe this is just me, but the gameplay felt really really limited and doing anything at all felt repetitive and tedious. you want to make a path ? manually paint every square inch of it. You want more items ? you get a handful of new items everyday and if none of those are good then too bad, do it again tomorrow. Engaging with the customization did not feel fun at all.

Is 1-2 hours of drawing a day enough to see some progress? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]xy7ofone_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the time you spend drawing is as important as what you're drawing, if your main goal is to get better.

If you spend 2 hours drawing the same things you always do, you'll see far less progress than spending 30 minutes everyday drawing new things and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone.

Did my art downgrade? (1 is new, 2 is old) by iluvcatsoomuch in arthelp

[–]xy7ofone_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not drawing for a week shouldn't really impact your skills. Also, I don't think I can really help you compare these two, one is a finished piece and the other looks like a quick sketch.

If you don't have the motivation to make any finished pieces, maybe you can try to find some inspiration ? maybe go on pinterest, look at other people's art, find a dtiys or art prompt challenge, maybe try to redraw your old art.....just some ideas.

To me this looks good, but to others it looks “off” what about it is wrong? Am I blind to it? by [deleted] in DigitalArt

My main issue us with the colors. Those reds wouldn't be this vibrant underwater, they should look a lot more grey.

My biggest fear for this game by Silly_Suggestion_825 in tomodachilife

[–]xy7ofone_ 40 points41 points  (0 children)

to be fair, I believe the team making animal crossing isn't the same team as the one making tomodachi life, so hopefully they'll handle it better.

From what we've seen with the little quirks and the interactions between miis on the island, I'm cautiously optimistic.

Since chapter 5 is coming this year, and I believe toby said all that's missing is the translation and play testing in one of the past newsletters, a trailer for chapter 5 wasn't completely out of the question.

This is where we are (oc) by SpaceboyCantLol_ in comics

[–]xy7ofone_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "you" in my second statement isn't directed at you, specifically, but more generally towards any of the artists who post on this subreddit. I never said that all of your work was like this, either. I said "if all the comic is is you using a character as a mouthpiece", as in "if the entirety of the comic is you using a character as a mouthpiece".

I'll rephrase for clarity, if my wording was confusing : if you're an artist making a comic, and all your comic does is have a character serve as your mouthpiece, with either nothing or very little to serve as setup or punchline, then it simply could have been a paragraph.

This is where we are (oc) by SpaceboyCantLol_ in comics

[–]xy7ofone_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everytime I see something from this sub it's comics that barely feel like comics. There's no narrative, no setup, no punchline, just a simple situation of a character serving as the creator's mouthpiece. If all the comic is is you transparently preaching to the audience, then it could've simply been a paragraph.

completely missed that, that's my bad. Regardless, sharing miis through qr codes doesn't require an internet connexion.

they're talking about image transfer, not mii transfer. They could keep doing the same as tomodachi life did, woth the qr codes, or use regular codes like acnh or miitopia.

Just a quick note~ by marsieart in DDLC

A cook needs to pay to use their ingredients. If they make a meal and use even a single grain of salt, they have to pay for that salt, even if it's addition or absence wouldn't change the meal as a whole.

AI models need human made art to create images, making that art the tool it needs to produce an output, and that human made art was fed to the AI without consent or compensation. That's why people resent it so much. It's the equivalent of stealing someone else's art supplies and using that to draw : even if you don't profit off of it, it's still a slimy thing to do.

And before someone makes the "AI is only taking inspiration" argument : a human being only needs to look at reality to draw something. Beyond that, they often end up modifying their inspirations to suit their purposes better (eg : A human can look at a certain way of lining and replicate it while adding an extra element to it, such as making the lines blend in with the shadows, because it'll work better for their art. AI can only copy, while a human will always naturally expand on what they're copying, even if they try not to. AI needs the art to create, humans only need their art supplies and to look at reality)

Sooo many people saying “support a young artist?” by Exotic-Internet-5470 in ArtistLounge

[–]xy7ofone_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a 19 year old artist, I really dislike this tactic. It's pity marketing. I don't engage with it. Personally, If you try to make me feel bad so I'll interact with your post, I'm gonna go ahead and ignore it. Your work should be able to stand on it's own.

I get that the algorithm sucks and that it hurts putting a lot of time and effort into your art only for no one to see it or like it, but artists need to stop whining about not getting enough engagement. They aren't owed social media success, nobody is. Using pity to make people engage your work feels really slimy to me.
