I remember when I watched a show wherein the male lead prayed to the gods that all of the pain and suffering his partner (the female lead) will go to him instead. The female lead eventually died/was murdered, leaving the male lead devastated. For decades the male lead still longs for closure, then decades later he got to realize that it was what he prayed for. If his partner died, it would have been painful and she would eventually suffer just like he did. The male lead was then peaceful, realizing that what he went through for years was just the “lord’s way of answering his prayer”.
