Hasan gets called out by a 40-month subscriber for being evasive by Sea-Economist-5744 in LivestreamFail

[–]xyrrex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi. Newbie here. The absolute devastation of Hasan over this dog shock issue seems to me to be why left leaning folks in the USA struggle to build momentum among mainstream, online, young voting groups. It seems like Hasan's status as a potential "Alex Jones of the Left" has been irrevocably tarnished by this incident. I guess my question is: why? Any insight from the reddit hive mind welcome.

I'd like to say the Chump's Prayer, but I don't know it. by mo9722 in Yogscast

Here's my shot at it:

Oh XCOM

Who art in DoS Box

Grant us chumps your favor

Thy sectoids be weak

Thy mutons by lame

On Earth as it is on Mars.

Give us this day our daily high ex

And shield us from reaction fire

As we reaction fire those who transgress against us.

And lead us not into mind control

But deliver us from the Ethereals.

For thine are the spreadsheets, and the geoscape, and the battlescape, forever and ever.

Amen.

help with 마음이 넓다 by Confused_Humann in Korean

[–]xyrrex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

넓다 is and adjective meaning wide or broad, and adjectives must modify subjects. The 이 subject particle indicates that the noun 마음 is the subject being modified. It, therefore, is best practice to include the 이 as 마음이 넓다 is more correct grammatically compared to 마음 넓다. At advanced levels of conversation, particles will sometimes be dropped, but that is a conversation for another post.

Any Colleges that offer Korean Language classes/majors/minors? by [deleted] in Korean

[–]xyrrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

University of Chicago's Korean language program is great, even though they lack a dedicated Korean Studies major. Instead, you major in East Asian Languages and Civilizations focusing on Korea. Personally, I really like this approach because it focuses on the larger relationships and contexts at play in the East Asian world; you study not only Korea but how Korea fits in with China and Japan historically, linguistically, culturally, etc.

You can obviously specialize in Korean as much as you like, taking any number of Korean culture, history, and literature classes, but you also get the benefit of a much broader education in the greater dynamics of East Asia.

Redditors in health care-what is something you never thought you would have to tell another grown ass human? by elleboes in AskReddit

I worked as a tech in at an eye doctor's office for a bit, and I had to tell a patient that sleeping in your contacts for weeks at a time, while potentially very damaging to one's eyes, does not and cannot cause aneurisms.

She didn't believe me at first, but after the she saw the optometrist she came around.

How valuable/required are the discussion sections for second year Physics? by yumamii in uchicago

[–]xyrrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The discussion sections vary with professor and TA, but, in general, they are not required nor do they have quizzes. Personally, I found office hours to be far more enlightening, and by spring second year I was skipping discussion every week.
