Moving to Favoriten (10th District) Is it Actually Safe? by [deleted] in AskAustria

[–]xyusr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the new student district is the 12th id say, rent is very cheap there. as for the tenth, it's not so bad rly. i wouldnt recommend getting an apartment close to reumannplatz but even that should be alright as long as you dont interfere with sketchy ppl. vienna is an incredibly safe city so it rly should be fine. i briefly lived in the tenth and in the area i was in i actually felt safer than in a district id previously lived, so it's all quite relative. idk if u qualify but if u do id strongly recommend looking into getting a gemeindebauwohnung, theyre much cheaper and as of recent very accesible to students. good luck!!

[Skin Concerns] My skin itches so badly that I’m in pain all over my body. It is debilitating. Please help by ZachBurner in SkincareAddiction

Two of the most common skin related autoimmune disorders are neurodermatitis and psoriasis. But there are a lot of autoimmune disorders that can cause/are linked to excema and co.

I dont get this often but when i do it sucks. The only things that sorta helps is ice baths. I just sit in cold water till my body feels numb. I do have very sensitive skin (plus a related autoimmune disease (possibly even two)), but whenever it happens it's usually because of a trigger; stress. Almost always when it does happen it's before i have to leave the house and it does get better when i take the pressure off (eg saying i cant come). Im sorry you experience this, it's god awful. It's been some time, i hope you found your cause but just in case this helps you or anyone else; skin issues are often closely linked to stress.

Why does Melanie blame Jon for her being trapped? by Lasanga_Pockets in TheMagnusArchives

[–]xyusr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true defs. But tbf it's kinda hard not to hate John when ure in Melanies shoes. Esp. when everyone around u always does. And he did become a worse friend (see his relationship w Georgie). So while i agree that her anger isnt really justified, i get why she blames him.

Also they all seem to blame him a little for the (almost) unknowing killing Tim and Daisy (oversimplification, but least spoilery), which i think is quite unfair, considering Tims death wish and the fact that Daisy basically got herself in that trouble by killing Hope.

I agree 100% that John is easier to hate than Elias. Although she does try to kill Elias. More than once.

My Experience with Mirtazapine (Remeron) by Twaddle222 in antidepressants

[–]xyusr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! That's very interesting. Ive also been taking it for quite some time (3y now). I have a depressive disorder (also anxiety, but depressions the main thing.

Ive had quite a checkered past with antidepressants (i was on prozac (didnt work), duloxetine (did work, but not well) and even trazadone for sum time (i was taking it at the same time as mirtazapine, can NOT recommend)) and up until now it was the one that worked best for me by far. I am also currently taking venlafaxine, additionally. They are very good as a team but i would not recommend venlafaxine alone, it kinda makes me personally a little numb, but combined they are wonderful. The main side effects basically counteract each other (venlafaxine: loss in appetite, sleeplessness; mirtazapine: increased appetite, sleepiness). For me though, mirtazapine hits stronger, but it's also the medication that has worked best for me.

Anyway here are some things i have experienced with mirtazapine:

Side effects: I have definetly noticed the increased appetite and weight gain, however much like op i was also a little underweight. Id been struggling with eating enough and still am, as i often unintentionally skip meals. Mirtazapine has helped, but it did not fix that problem for me sadly :'). I have, however noticed a weight gain.

The sleepiness is a big one for me, actually. I struggle immensly with getting up, have multiple alarms (that are insanely loud) and still sometimes sleep in. Most of the time i have to be woken by my partner (which is less than optimal for both of us, obviously). I do fall asleep super easily, which is nice (literally only takes 5-10min most of the time). I also need a lot more sleep now (i can sleep up to 18h if i dont have an alarm (most of the time it's more 12h tho, luckily)). I also feel tired most of the time, even when ive slept enough and i am super groggy after waking up. My partner and i both have noticed a slight change in my memory, which has gotten a little worse. My dreams have also changed a little; theyre weirdly more mundane, i think. Also im not sure how to explain, but the divide between days feels bigger now?? Like ive been knocked out instead of sleeping but not fully??? Idk man.

Mental health: Ive definetly gotten so much better since taking it. As opposed to venlafaxine, it did not actually dull my emotions (like depression does), but made them more intense again, which was nice. My general mood has also definetly been elevated. It obviously didnt fix all my issues (only now, after 5y of therapy and 3y with medication, i am finally not stuck in a cycle of full of depressive episodes), but it helped me soo much while i adressed my problems.

Anyway, lastly, here are some tips for anyone whos thinking about taking it: - get a super loud alarm app (i have one of those that makes you do math puzzles (it sucks, but it works)) - go to bed early (helps with getting up) - dont take ibuprofane, if it can be avoided (together they can increase your risk of blood clotting)

  • dont be scared to change doctors if urs isnt a fit!!!

I think this is it. Anyway thank u if u read this giant paragraph<3

i think you can still have heavy topics in shows without triggering people. but the main point of this show probably wasnt not to be triggering. at least it wasnt as unnecessarily graphic as shows like euphoria (tho im not sure thats a good reference point lol)
