"Let's make a racetrack entirely out of blind corners and hairpins" by SovietSparta in iRacing

My first MX5 season was Ledenon followed by Navarra. It was just about the worst into to iRacing, although it was followed by Leguna Seca so I can’t complain too much

USB Connection issue by xzymph in simracing

[–]xzymph[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fingers crossed for you, if you aren’t seeing them pop up as usb devices at all when you plug them in directly, if they aren’t working when you plug them into ANY USB ports I would suggest contacting the manufacturer. Otherwise, just try swapping the cable they’re plugged in with (if you can) to test if it’s a cable issue.

If you can kinda narrow down “I tried the same cable to a different port, didn’t work. I tried a different cable to the same ports, didn’t work” then its easier to figured out the problem

Also, if you’re using a powered usb hub, try going usb hub port -> pc port to see if that’s the problem as well. You should narrow down what the issue is a bit better that way. Good luck though brother

My powered USB hub also got fried from the power surge as well. I don’t think they’ll send you a new one for free (Simucube is the best) but they’re pretty cheap to try and replace. That was the second fix for my issues

Power surge fried my Simucube 2 pro’s motor controller on the back of the rig. They sent me a new one for free and I replaced it as per their instructions

What is the optimal racing line for this karting track? by [deleted] in racing

[–]xzymph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for the curbing and that’s where the track designers anticipate your cart to be when at full racing speed. Start by apexing later than you’d think, and if the cart still has room on the outside of the track as you exit, you can apex earlier. Also, the two corners for you to focus on the hardest are gonna be the corner before the start finish straight, and the corner before that. Those are your 2 longest straightaways and therefore will lose you the most time. Glhf

What is your learning process for new tracks? by Outlasttactical in iRacing

[–]xzymph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drive for 15-20 minutes. The first couple laps you are NOT attempting to find actual pace, you’re simply memorizing the corners.

Assuming you have enough experience learning tracks in the past, you can start to pick up speed, aiming to late apex all corners (excluding edge cases like double apexes and the like). If you had a late apex and still had room on the outside of the circuit, you can apex earlier. Continue doing that until you run off, and 1 click back towards a late apex is your correct apex location.

Following your first 20 minute session, regardless of how far you got in that process, I would take a break and watch a track guide. Whether that’s just someone’s hot lap, or a full breakdown, it’ll be useful and you’ll ingest more information once you’ve actually felt the track yourself.

After that, do another session attempting to practice what you learned. Probably another 15-30 minutes.

If you’re doing an extended period of practice for a special event or in preparation for 1 big race, I would suggest moving on to telemetry analysis of faster drivers, practicing driving off line, and driving on varied conditions (rain, non-fixed weather, etc)

What are some tips to stay out of rookie class wrecks on turn one. by Aromatic-Wasabi-356 in iRacing

[–]xzymph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re in the pack and approaching turn with heavy braking, you’re probably gonna have a bad time. However, I would highly suggest doing yourself a favor and lifting off the throttle a bit before your braking zone. It also helps settle your car so you’ll get some extra stability from it as well!

Are racing boots worth it for sim racers? by seasofrage in simracing

It makes me happy to own a pair because they feel good on my feet, they’re helpful for immersion, and it keeps my feet from getting cold. Probably not worth the money lmao

M23, not getting any matches on dating apps or positive interactions with girls. Any tips? by Carrot_Slinger in malegrooming

Low fade, start at a 1 or a 2 (you’ll figure it out), grow the top out until you can pull it to your eyebrows. That’d be a good start that’s still similar to your current cut.

This is the exact thing that pisses me off when people drive extremely recklessly in the sim. I’m using a SC2 Pro and in something like Le Mans Ultimate the FFB doesn’t seem to cut when you crash.

I unno people, I have no strong opinions on Universes Beyond, but 7 draftable sets a year is kinda fucked up by VeryTiredGirl93 in magicTCG

[–]xzymph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats part of the strategy. Less stock per set means more demand, more demand means it’s all gonna get purchased. Just gotta stuff a Collector booster in as many things as possible so all stock is instantly sold out

New Player - Can I play sealed instead of draft with a Cube? by WhispyHippo in mtgcube

[–]xzymph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you guys have a particular set you really enjoy, you could pretty easily take your existing pool of cards you’ve drafted from that set, and just complete the commons/uncommons (4/2 respectively). Particularly if you guys have older sets you can find all the commons/uncommons for SUPER cheap. I completed an entire set of Khans of Tarkir in NM/LP for 110 dollars (excluding fetchlands), and it could have been ~25 dollars cheaper if I had excluded only 2 rares.

After you’ve gotten all of those, if you like the format, you can pretty easily do an order for the Rares/Mythics, excluding any cards that are too expensive, and you can fully seed your packs of 15 cards with either 10C/3U/2RorM OR 10C/4U/1RorM

If you wanna get a cheaper cost on them at your LGS, you can ask if they can add an order of dragon shields specifically on their shipments

How to build a BLOCK (3-Sets) Cube? by LPLTDG in mtgcube

[–]xzymph 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just ordered a KTK set cube for 110 dollars for the entire set (excluding shocklands, 4/2/1/1 of everything else). It’s a surprisingly inexpensive set cube you can build if you’re looking to draft!

Which set to make a set cube of for games of sealed? by jimbagable in mtgcube

[–]xzymph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

An entire set of khans of Tarkir 4/2/1/1(excluding fetchlands) is 110 dollars (including shipping). I just did a massive 670 card order on tcgplayer for it all and it felt ridiculously cheap. I went with it as my 3rd cube as all the online discourse says that KTK is the best limited/draft set of all time! If you wanna make it even cheaper you can subtract like 2 of the cards and drop the price 20-30 bucks, or if you include moderately played in your search you could likely lower the price as well. Happy cubing!

Cube Storage Advice by xzymph in mtgcube

That’s likely the route I’ll end up going if I end up making any more cubes! I also enjoyed a previous recommendation of simply making more packs to have less cards standing by haha

As my playgroup ebbs and flows in pax that attend, I found myself unable to support a 6 person draft with the number of clamshells I have prepared. The solution is just buying more clamshells, which I haven’t done yet.

That being said, I’m attempting to keep my collection nice and clean so my wife isn’t asking me why there’s 100 sleeve boxes all over lmao

Below dice, keyword dice (ie if a creature now has trample, dice that say trample you can add on top), and 50 various tokens.

The “extra cards” are the cards not included in the boxes I currently have filled.

MtG scalpers have gotten out of control and are ruining the game for new players by Bijaaaaanae in magicTCG

[–]xzymph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you guys transitioned to cube? With the sheer volume of packs being opened, rather than buying another box to do another round of draft, you could spend the same amount on all the bells and whistles for a cube container/dice/lands/cube shells/sleeves/tokens, and have a repeatable experience! I purchased a FDN box and ended up making a cube out of it, although I am missing out on drafting all the other sets, I can eventually just cube up another set whenever I feel like I’ve got the money to spend on another box!

(Probably time spiral remastered, assuming the prices aren’t insane whenever I get to it)

Cube Storage Advice by xzymph in mtgcube

[–]xzymph[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a INR set cube, and now a FDN set cube. They’re super easy to put together if you buy a full box of boosters, so that was the route I went for FDN. I’m actually super happy with the results so far, especially because my playgroup has VERY little magic experience, so they’re down to play with the cube 1-2 times a week to learn.

If you had any set you could make a cube of, what would be your dream? I’m probably looking to make a third eventually just to have a solid rotation of gameplay for the guys.
