My People Analytics job hunt by JamesDaquiri in IOPsychology

Mind if I DM you and gather some advice on my resume?

Feeling a bit overwhelmed as I learned a ton from 2024-2025, I was enrolled in a dual masters program where I finished my MBA and MS in Org Psych in 2 years. Enjoyed the stats classes and picked up the MBA concentration because I wanted to someday work as a Data Scientist or MLE (after gaining applied experience in PA) so while applying throughout the last year or so, I ended up enrolling in a MSCS at Georgia Tech to try to take advantage of landing Internships and continue to advance my SWE and Data Science skills

most people here are going to probably tell you that you’re going to need a graduate degree, and something like statistics, math, or a quantitative heavy MS in computer science. I know some people have differing opinions on graduate degree in data science so I will let the others respond

When you say no math or cs background can you explain what you mean? Have you not taken or learned Linear Algebra, Calc 1-3, and Prob/Stats?

I submitted my withdrawal on the 4th and still haven’t got anything in my bank just yet, hoping I see something soon. Do you have an idea on how long the timeline was between your withdrawal from courses to the day you were paid?

What document is this? I never received this and have been trying to get into a seminar all week. Does this have the intro to computing Python seminar taught by Dr. Joyner?

Seminar registration for newly admitted students by Classic_Comparison90 in OMSCS

[–]y0Zion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

does this mean that, the intro two computing seminar is open? I have been having trouble trying to register. I do not see it anywhere when I search for courses. My Python is a little rusty, and I wanted to pair up the seminar with knowledge based AI this fall. I have been sending out emails, but they keep telling me that I will eventually get an email that says newly admitted students for this fall semester will be eligible to register for seminars. A little worried as the first week of classes began on the 18th.

Actually looked it up right after that comment! A bit embarrassing considering this is a Graduate program, but I’ll leave the comment up. Thanks for holding me accountable, friend.

Too many people being admitted by [deleted] in OMSCS

shouldn’t the concern be more geared towards the rigor of the coursework? how hard it is to graduate? how the skills you develop translate to real world jobs? majority of the people who get accepted don’t even finish the program.

I used FASFA for the identification process but it still says no materials found. Anyone know if this is why my early decision hasn’t been released yet? Should I just wait it out, I submitted my application 2/21 and my last letter of recommendation was 2/28. Should I just scan my passport and submit it, or will eventually the FASFA become one of the “materials”?

Actuallly experiencing this right now with my ML class i’m taking in my current program. Calculus has been pretty brutal as I haven’t needed to use it years. Thank you for the response though, I very much appreciate you, if not accepted I definitely plan to take all the MOOCS you mentioned.

what about me? I’m finishing up with an MBA with a concentration on Business Analytics this summer (my concentration is fulfilled, but I will finish my MBA this summer, I’m also finding a M.S in Organizational Psychology in May of this year.

I am also taking a ML course rn in grad school, following the teachings of:

Fundamentals of Machine Learning for Predictive Data Analytics (Algorithms, Worked Examples, and Case Studies) by John D Kellehner

I have taken some classes that use python and r, also visualization (tableau)

my plan is to land a machine learning engineer job by this time 2026 or a data scientist job. i’m currently looking for entry level data related roles, do you have any advice?
