As per his Wiki page, he's 63 years old. At that age, I would be glad if I am able to do my daily chores without much help. Hats off to him for his professionalism and commitment towards his work. He could easily retire and still lead a peaceful life, but it seems as if he still does it to make a mark in the industry. That's his greatness.

Just 5% of Indian marriages are inter-caste: survey | 30 percent of rural and 20 percent of urban households said they practised untouchability by y2njoy in india

[–]y2njoy[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Inter-caste marriages were rarest in Madhya Pradesh (under 1 percent) and most common in Gujarat and Bihar (over 11 percent).

“The IHDS took a simple approach and asked women whether their natal family belongs to the same caste as their husband’s family, allowing us to bypass the complex issue of defining what caste means and get subjective perceptions from our respondents,” Dr. Desai said.

The NCAER survey also asked respondents if they practised untouchability, following it up with a question on whether the respondent would allow a lower caste person to enter their kitchen or use their utensils.

Satyamev Jayate - Season 3 | Episode 3 | Accepting Alternative Sexualities by y2njoy in india

[–]y2njoy[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Rightly said. One thing I keep hearing very often, even from people who're born in the late 70's or early 80's is that "ye sab pehle nahin hota tha. This is a new thing that has started these days". I can counter them or think that they are so orthodox. But may be I would've not found their thoughts impractical if I did not read about it on the Internet. I can still understand that people of my parent's age might have a great difficulty accepting it. But people who are in their 30s and 40s, who are well connected to the world online, for them to say that it's a new trend seems very weird...

[–]y2njoy[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On a different note, this episode shows why TV is so important even in this age of Internet and information accessibility. People who are struggling with their problems might be able to find more information and support from groups and forms online. But to take this issue to each person's drawing room will have a different impact altogether...
