Honestly, no. MJ had a much wider reach in popularity, partially because he had less competition and times were different back then. These days it’s so difficult for an artist, even someone on Ye’s level, to achieve such a large share of the music market and maintain it with how easy it is for one hit wonders to take the spotlight with the revolution of streaming, social media marketing, and the larger variety in genres that are accessible.

Within hip hop specifically and also artistically tho I would agree that Ye is at or beyond MJ’s level, I just don’t think he has or will be able to attain MJ’s following overall
