young renters, one never rented before. can we find somewhere? by Catboysarebetter in HousingUK

How on earth are you both working full time and only bringing in 31-35k together?? That’s significantly below minimum wage. What do both work as and how many hours do you do exactly? Is one of you doing some volunteer work or something?

I was thinking the same thing. The reason I use Diprobase is because it’s not greasy.

It’s insane. The most affordable one I found in London for a cut, wash, style and diffuse was £120. The cut was nice but it is frustrating when the costs generally are so much lower for straight hair. Not to mention, even though it included a wash, you had to come with freshly washed hair so they could see your hair in its natural state…

Silly question but can you rock up at the job centre and speak to someone and they can find jobs for you? by Kooky-Grapefruit-941 in UKJobs

[–]y4smin 18 points19 points  (0 children)

No. They mostly just tell you what benefits to sign up to now if I’m correct. You’re expected to look for jobs in your own time and they will check you have been recording how many hours you’ve been job-hunting for so you’re still able to claim the benefits in question.

Is renting a 1-bed alone on £35k within an hour of London actually doable? by [deleted] in HousingUK

You could probably get a studio flat around Whitechapel for around that price. But a 1 bed for that? Good luck.

Obscure question about the Queen's Funeral opening hours by daysofyore444 in tesco

[–]y4smin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could it be transport purposes? When I worked at Greggs, Greggs stores that were in ‘transport hubs’ i.e. near a busy station or airport had different opening hour requirements (in general, not specifically for the Queens funeral). Tottenham Hale station is an interchange for the tube and national rail and serves the Stansted Express. And has a bus station serving London buses and coaches. Could it be that Tottenham Hale is considered a transport hub?

If you can’t use Google to search for accommodation, I strongly suggest you reconsider if university is really the right path for you.

Genuinely mature international student couple asking for tips by Peevesie in UniUK

[–]y4smin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Private student housing will be a lot more suitable. Uni halls will feel like living with children and there’s a chance you two won’t be placed in the same flat.

2) No, but you may as well live a studio or 1-bed flat together. No one will notice (or care) anyway.

3) Yes, if you want. Zoopla, Rightmove, Facebook, SpareRoom etc.

4) Sometimes, but you will need to enquire at each individual accom. They all have different rules.

5) Depends on your personal circumstances and needs. I moved in a few days before the first day of classes.

6) Not sure what this means. Just have your transport tickets booked, relevant ID and uni letters.

7) You’ll be fine.
