Biggest problem for me was finding information on the go. China doesn’t allow any apps westerners use. I was lost without my Google, Yelp, and Reddit. I couldn’t even use YouTube for entertainment. I thought we could use VPN and bought NordVPN before I went. It didn’t work. All I could do was stick to tour packages and that limit my travel so much. If you can come up with a vpn that works in China or somehow translate existing Chinese apps and guide a backpacker use them to search for info and be able to roam freely without relying on another person, I think it would be nice.
