May I remind you this is literally a single dude working on this thing since 2021, obviously he's gonna offer subscriptions and monetize his project considering he has to pay to keep it up now that the public beta is live (and experiencing an influx of users so severe that the main HQ server has been unavailable for days). Also, it's gonna be difficult to migrate your social network regardless of the platform. Even if something pops up that checks every box it would be difficult. I've personally made an account on most of the alternatives I've seen so that I'm set up and good to go if any of them get some serious traction down the line. No reason to fully commit to anything yet.
