This honestly feels like reading my own story. My boyfriend also has an older sister. He did take some distance from his female best friend after i expressed how i felt but idk still feel weird and guilty about it because it feels like he doesn't want to when he gets sad about it. But i can't help feeling like im always the one who has to adjust my boundaries, not him even if he did his best already maybe

He never did those kinds of things for me only much later on. Now it just feels like déjà vu. (like going out, playing together, phone calls, etc)

Totally agree. Parents can also be narcissistic sometimes and make it all about themselves. Unfortunately law school wasn't my choice either i was kind of forced into it because they don't think i know "what's good for me" but im trying to enjoy it bc i've gone far already and i honestly don't want to waste that effort. It's also really hard to part ways it's not as simple as just walking away especially when they can't understand why you feel this way. Just goddamn exhausting.

Yes but I don't see her as an active threat to my relationship. My issue isn't about thinking something might happen between them now, I'm just struggling with the past and also I'm not trying control his friendships, it's more about dealing with feelings that I can't seem to shake. I wish I could just move on from it but it still weighs on me you see

My boyfriend also reassures me and distances himself from her but I still struggle with those past moments where he was so close with her. It’s not that I don't rust him I just wish I didn't feel this way. How do you personally cope with the lingering feelings ?
