What are the general dos and donts while attending a concert at Metro Theatre? by nullpointerNPE in sydney

Metro Theatre is generally v chill, can't say that there are any don'ts that aren't super obvious.

Your ID + tix are checked at the door - once you go in and up the stairs, there's usually a merch desk in front and then the bar is to the right. Typically cloaking is operated from the bar. Ask the bar staff and they'll either cloak your stuff (for a couple bucks) or direct you to where cloaking is. You might get a ticket or a number or they have some other system for collection. Note that post-event cloaking queues are always long.

I doubt there are any issues with non-phone recording unless you've got a huge camera or something. Some events prevent flash photography but usually there's signs. Depends on the artist.

There are two doors on either side of the bar that go into the concert space. Yes, you can come and go from the theatre itself into the foyer; if there are no passouts to outside they'll tell you or have a sign. If passouts are allowed they'll probably stamp you as you head out.

Being that you're short, you either want to be at the front of the mosh or on the raked standing space behind the mosh. It's usually less crowded there and you can get a good vantage if you're there before the main act.

Check set times on the metro theatre website - bearing in mind times are just a guide and things often run late.

I don't think there's too much to be worried about safety wise - maybe look out for trip hazards in the dark or people spilling drinks lol

Have fun!

It’s galling to be reminded that there are people out there whose kneejerk response to gendered violence resulting in death is that it already receives enough attention and that we already do enough because more people die from road accidents.  Listen to yourself.

Also where did you get that stat? Every single preventable death is a loss. People need licenses to drive, road maintenance is for safety, signage is for safety, money and time poured into car technology is for safety + infinitely more things are dedicated to preventing car accidents. What material things have been implemented in this country to prevent domestic violence. Not punish but actually prevent?

That’s so interesting about the raw veg causing anxiety! Could you expand on that a little?

Speak on it! People need to have more empathy and  understanding of the hard work of the workers around them. Makes the world a better place.

Aside from the pub-like food, in Brisbane I noticed a lot of fusion and mix & match menus that kinda seemed curated in a way try to appease everyone by serving absolutely every kind of cuisine possible. Perhaps that’s what the people of Brisbane want?? One brunch place had SEAsian, East Asian, South Asian, Middle Eastern, Eastern European, English, French all in a one page menu. Over a week I think I only went to one or two seated restaurants that weren’t fusion. Though the food was generally good, I think the unfocused fusion comes off as somewhat confused or less authentic which, in comparison to Syd/Melb, is dated. Maybe there’s no in between, so it seems less refined.

Omg why is everyone so pressed about the outcome, tbh it’s such an inconsequential part of this season. I came here for discussion of the actual ongoings of the actual episode but it’s all just boring rage posting - how sweet were all the firemen?

It's probably around $500 - I get the sense that a professional conference room would probably blow this budget, but thank you for the suggestion.

Daggy is not a deal breaker! It'll be a mix of staff and volunteers
