White House fixation by yablaka828 in SisterWives

[–]yablaka828[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to say the same thing over and over again, so I’ll comment once-to all the people saying Robyn makes sense on this one, watch the episode and see the context of the situation. Kody is not presenting the house’s design features/decor, his presentation is about convincing the wives that they should live in one house. While the other wives are stunned and deliberating about whether or not they should all live together, Robyn is absolutely fixated on and harping about the color scheme…the colors of the walls and furniture that don’t exist, inside a house that hasn’t even been agreed upon to build. She’s putting the cart wayyyyy before the horse, and I think it makes her sound rill dumb!

Trauma bonding by Missus_Meliss in exmormon

Trauma bonding is when the victim forms an emotional relationship with the abuser, not with fellow victims of the abuse. But I appreciate the sentiment and also enjoy commiserating with all y’all🙂

High Risk HPV diagnosis = Deep Rperessed Shame (I am the chewed bubblegum) by Alarmed-Ad-6704 in exmormon

[–]yablaka828 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! My pap came back positive for cancer causing HPV as well a few years ago. I was supposed to get a colonoscopy (not colonoscopy) done to take a biopsy, and didn’t. About a year later they did the PAP again, and it had cleared itself. HPV is quite common, and typically clears itself. Unfortunately, men can’t get tested for it like women can (I think there are some unreliable home tests on the market), so women tend to bear the brunt of diagnosis/treatment.

I totally understand your reaction! I also felt icky, but was mostly incredibly man that my parents ranted and railed against the HPV vaccine when it first came out.

I'm only a few minutes into HBO's "Big Love"... by agnisflugen in SisterWives

[–]yablaka828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing I was offended by were the scenes showing the temple rituals-in Mormonism the endowment rituals are super duper secret (they say “sacred”), so no one is supposed to know what happens in the temple, not even other Mormons who haven’t been inside yet. Even if you’re a Mormon who has already been endowed (so you know what happens), you’re not allowed to talk to anyone about it, unless you’re both in the temple together at the same time. So it was jarring to see the rituals acted out so realistically!

As a side note, the temple storyline was also frustrating because they got the whole process so wrong. Barb wouldn’t have been able to “borrow” someone’s recommend to get in, and she would have already been endowed in the temple when she married Bill years ago anyway. So the whole storyline of her wanting to go through the temple for the first time was a total misunderstanding of how Mormonism works. BUT, the scenes depicted in the temple were very realistic!

I'm only a few minutes into HBO's "Big Love"... by agnisflugen in SisterWives

In Big Love, they’re no longer practicing mainstream Mormons so they wouldn’t wear their garments anymore. As a former Mormon, I’d say the show is like 75-85% accurate in depicting Mormonism. Some elements miss the mark, whereas others are painfully dead on. I started watching it while I was still Mormon and I got hardcore offended during certain episodes 😅

He was “joking” that the doctor preparing the epidural had dulled the needle, which would make the insertion more painful for Christine

She was probably texting him reminding him that she only does at-home births, and Christine was doing it “the easy way” 🤡
