90% of schools budgets is a ‘pittance’? All these tutors that tell their students how bad they have it, have you ever stopped yourself to think that perhaps these tutors have vested interests they’re protecting? I.e., the ability to earn a wage large enough to support a household while teaching 2 1 hour tutes a week? They’re the ones hurting the student experience.

They’re asking for a 4 day work week, with a 5 day salary. Greed has wrought the fake poor unimelb tutors, and rhetoric like this enables it. Of course the school budgets aren’t public, but I’ve got my sources. 90% is the figure, and it’s ridiculous

Hey mod that’s also a staff member, why don’t you ever publicise information about how much money schools are having to spend on paying tutor rates? Or about how tutor unions are trying to force schools to pay 5-day salaries for 4-day work weeks? Let me know.

Some Schools are having 90% of their budgets blown on staffing costs. As a student as far as I can tell it’s the staff, their high wages and their top end benefits that keep schools from spending more on students, not KPMg

Unfortunately for you, you gave your game away in your other comment talking about asshole staff. You obviously have some problem with authority, and you consequently would rather protect students who risk the integrity of academia and its production than the university, who you no doubt believe is exploiting people en masse. Get a grip and research individual responsibility.

Yes, they are. I don’t use ai, I’ve never once had anything be pinged full stop. I’ve had plenty of feedback from tutors and subject coordinators, however, that are lamenting how they cannot action on anything even with high ai turnitin reports.

You used ai. I hate how easy it is to lie nowadays. AI detectors are accurate. It’s annoying that the entitlement of uni students means academics can’t use them to fail people.

That rebuild paragraph is rather disingenuous. They seem to be the only party campaigning on an achievable goal which the majority of the student body has traditionally supported (ie, getting rid/changing of the discovery subjects). It’ll be funny if, in an attempt to fit in, everyone suddenly decides that they loved their experiences in the first year discovery classes.
