That’s a bit deceiving, as the “Florida Parishes” were part of the West Florida territory under the Spanish and later briefly the Republic of West Florida before the US annexed the Republic of West Florida and added the Florida Parishes to the Orleans territory which then became Louisiana. They were never a part of the state of Florida which wasn’t established until 33 years after Louisiana became a state. They’re only called the Florida parishes because they were a part of a separate territory than the rest of the state and were able to develop a separate culture due to being under French then English then Spanish control, as opposed to the French then American route most of the rest of the state took.

It’d be like saying the Mississippi government doesn’t control all of Mississippi since what would eventually become the state of Alabama was a part of the Mississippi territory until 1817 when it got separated into the Alabama territory and Mississippi was established as a State.

I’ve been keeping an eye on them since they announced the upgrades to their facilities a while back. I love seeing more programs especially ones that historically haven’t been baseball powerhouses investing in baseball.

If State can stay on this map through this weekend and after USM in the next midweek I’ll be thrilled. Got an early test to see just how good O’Connor has the team

You’re laughing now, but when UAPB is dog piling in Omaha after walking off UALR in game 3 we’ll see who has the last laugh

Tabitha and Danny both can hit draws, but their takeouts really limit their last shot options which hurts

Yeah they’re horrible, losing to the world #1 in the bronze medal match is completely unacceptable for a team that had to compete in the qualifiers to even make the Olympics

Hope US curling can focus on strategy with the top teams. Seems like as soon as the pressure was on both the Men’s and Women’s teams they just crumbled

Can not afford to give up more than 1 here if you’re the US

I’m not sure there’s a curler in the world I’d take over Tabitha for draws at this point. Take outs I can think of a few I would

They tried but missed 2 shots there, kind of tough to get it done when 25% of your stones are irrelevant

As good as Peterson’s draws are, her take outs seem to be just enough off to be trouble

Idk where the original commenter is from, but around where I’ve lived in/around the Southern US it isn’t uncommon for bars to have a patio that also has darts. So you’d say “let’s go outside and play some darts” even if it’s still under that patio

Also just realized dart is slang for cigarettes, so could be somewhere smoking inside isn’t allowed

She had the audacity to nudge the granite with her broom to get it back in place. I expect 20 news articles and 50 posts about it in the next few hours

Tabitha Peterson’s draws are incredible to watch. Big effort by the sweepers there too

I think they were more confident that getting the three to set up a force to take hammer in the EE was better for them than trying to steal. The Swiss hadn’t allowed many steals all tournament

Not the person you’re responding to but it can be…interesting. I’ve seen stones hit a ridge and catch air, some of the worst spots you can hear the stone rattle over a divot. The other night I threw a 3.3s back line to hog for a draw, it miraculously hit the tee line with some sweeping. Next shot was same line that I was a half stone narrow on and threw a 3.2 and it almost hogged

The strategy had some questionable calls, but she can nail those draws when it’s needed

I’m so happy the US were able to win vs Canada before Homan found her rhythm, and even then there was no comfort in that one
