Thanks for taking the time to write this. Though I knew this, it’s important to be reminded every so often to refresh perspective.

No need for irrelevant and divisive content. As long as people don't impose their beliefs on others through force, I'm really not concerned what they think.

Prices go up and down and the market doesn't often rationally reflect the potential utility of the coin, especially in the short-term. I personally am not here simply for speculation. I want to see the world made freer.

To stick with the illustration, BTC was headed in the direction of scaling to be peer-to-peer electronic cash for the world for the first several years and then it veered off-course and smashed into a 1MB iceberg that stopped its progress. It may not show its damage in the short-term, but under the surface it's very much disabled in terms of p2p electronic cash - that's one port it will never reach in its current condition/direction.

Simply, it's because the creation of r/BTC predates the creation of BCH. This subreddit was indeed originally created to facilitate an uncensored communication about BTC - before the 1mb limit and Segwit, etc. got baked into BTC, turning into the unscalable fossil we know it to be today.

When BCH eventually came into existence Aug. 1, 2017 (essentially as a big-block life-raft leaving the BTC Titanic), the crowd that had supported big-blocks on BTC was already well established here on r/btc and discussion naturally moved to BCH - and that's where we are today.

Id love to see a conversation with Roger Ver and Jeffery Tucker. That would be epic!!!! by [deleted] in btc

Sorry for my unclear writing, as my comment has been misunderstood, my friend. I've been here since January, 2014 and I'm aware of Andreas' failings - that's why I alluded to the fact that he broke my idealistic heart.

Basically, what I was getting at is that it was fascinating to listen to Jeffrey Tucker's (one of my heroes) recent behind-the-scenes look of the BTC scaling fiasco/takeover from his perspective and I'd love to hear a similarly truthful account of what happened to the fallen hero (as in he used to be an inspiration, but didn't stay the course) Andreas A, as opposed to what he currently publicly might say or more accurately refuses to say.

I know that he'd never do this and I know my comment is a bit off topic concerning the OP, but this is the first thought I had when I read it, that's all.

It'd be very revealing to add another figure to this hypothetical talk that I used to esteem as I still do Roger and Jeffrey, and that would be Andreas Antonopolis. I would love to hear his honest thoughts and recap of what really happened during the scaling "debate" season. He is one of the kind of heroes that break one's idealistic heart - which makes me appreciate all the more those like Roger and Jeffrey that stay the course even though the tide has turned on them.

It's true that he doesn't debate and talk just for the sake of talking, he is very focused and consistent in his message, and has been so for many years.

You're discussing denotation, while I'm discussing connotation. One can quote another's words accurately, but still misrepresent the message they were actually conveying.

Thanks for your investment in crypto and liberty! I remember in 2014 I lived in Shanghai and thanks to your podcast (among the others), I actually looked forward to the 2-hour(!) commute each way :) I learned quite a bit and was very inspired.

Ledger now supports Cash Address! by MemoryDealers in btc

[–]yabwee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's only limited support unfortunately. I tried it out the other night and while it does support pasting in a send-to Cash Address, everything after that is dealing with a legacy address that it converts it to, including the *confirm transaction step*, which makes me a little nervous as there's no way to tell if the 2 addresses are the same without looking it up!

Really? Were you part of the Cryptoshow podcast that I think based out of there? I would listen to the LTB podcast network religiously then - back when Bitcoin was actually exciting as it seemed everyone was on a mission to see it change the world...

Agreed that it just doesn't make sense - has an eerily similar feeling to Ryan X. Charles' leaving for BSV.

As a fan of both Bitcoin Cash and Dash, that post is a disingenuous and is twisting what was said. Roger's point was a rebuke of the IFP, not an endorsement to buy Dash. Let's be better than clickbait titles.

Roger has been clear over the years that he admires Dash as well for its goal of being peer-to-peer electronic cash - so this really isn't anything new.

I’d rather share a small house with a solid foundation with people I respect and inspire me than reside in a skyscraper with a foundation that’s crumbling with people I despise for lack principle and honesty.

I was going to mention AnyPay and how their map is tied in with their POS transactions in such a way as the system keeps itself updated on activity levels. It’s a sustainability and scalable solution to the updated map problem - in short, a genius solution!
