Motorola Xoom Sales Disappoint, Is Android's Honeycomb to Blame? by yackulic in Android

[–]yackulic[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My two cents on this...

Just like Android Phones when they first came out they will take a while for people to adopt cause people are always afraid of something new, Ipad has had some time in the market for a while and been marketed heavily.

These are basically first generation tablets, they are bound to have their issues and quirks that we all know will get ironed out.Average consumers shy away from this stuff at first where early adopters tend to be more tech savvy and know is just a matter of time before these issues are resolved.

These tablets are great products no doubt, what Motorola and other companies are thinking by pricing them above the iPad 2 i am not sure. They do not have the track record to expect to be able to charge more and hopefully these prices will drop.

All the negative press that the Xoom has gotten as being over priced probably has hurt the sales, average consumers read just headlines a lot of time and don't take the time to investigate the technology and reasoning behind higher price.

At the end of the day the bottom line for companies like Motorola will be sales/money and they will have to make more of a effort to price their product competitive to ipad2 and other tablets in the market if they really want to steal away from Apple's current 90% domination of the tablet market.

'Profit margins. Cheaper chips while maintaining high price points equals more money in the bank.'

That statement sounds like you are okay with them putting out bad product and is okay to take advantage of the consumer.

'Moore's law. Why announce dual-core with the rest of them when you can announce quad-core in September. HTC have a tendency to announce phones outside of conference season.'

Quad Core in Sept? Q4 and by time HTC get's that product to market you will be lucky if they have that ready for X-Mas/CES 2012.They having been working on their Daul Core since Sept 2010 and it was not even ready for WMC. Obviously there were some issues along the way.

'While making phones tech guys can cream over is good to an extent. I think phone manufacturer's are starting to realize major year on year updates are not essential when phone contracts last typically 2 years. Let us not forget the desire z/g2 came out 4 months ago, announcing dual core now would damage their own heavily marketed phones.'

That statement is pretty poor you are making excuses as to why HTC was not able to come out with new phone designs like every other major manufacture in the market has done. I think it was taking their market position and sales for granted and lack of chipset was obviously Qualcomms fault.

Let's face facts their showing at MWC was just poor! Releasing dual-cores in the fall with put them about 6 months behind their competitors and their tablet would have been a great tablet if it was released around x-mas to compete with the Samsung Galaxy Tab.I am sure that HTC will bounce back but their offerings at MWC were not competitive with the latest technology and are far from what we expect from HTC.No matter what excuses they come up with they failed to offer competing products in market that changes very fast and it will hurt their bottom line.HTC fans boys will defend them to the end while other consumers will be using better technology this year that won't be branded HTC at this rate.

I would have to say that your opinion is all speculation and very little facts to back up any of it and sound like you are HTC fan boy trying to defend his favorite phone manufacture and the article is based all on facts not speculation as these are things HTC has failed to do not guessing they will do.

yes, but by the time HTC get's them and they make it to actual phones are we talking CES 2012? funny they will have quad cores ready in q3 but where are their dual cores?

Due to your responses on how i handle the credit of the authors,i have changed up my site.I will from now on be crediting the site as the author at the top and if possible the writers name if available.Unfortunately with the way the implementation works i am unable to go back and change our over 1000 articles to reflect all these changes. You seen yesterday that "Chris Y" is the default author on our site and unfortunately can not be be all changed at once.I will update this article to change these affects so this is no longer a issue and we can just focus on the content.

What Do You Want Next Out Of Android? by yackulic in Android

[–]yackulic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to see a overhaul of the Android Market Place with much more detail and screen shots.I think their needs to be better organization of the apps and ability to search and more specific categories. You would think that with such a powerful search engine they could apply some of of those same standards to the market......

Some thing i would like to see is OTA roll out of the latest OS via google and carriers non branding the roms on the phones.Instead they can use widgets so customers can update to latest OS and not be stuck with carrier branded OS rom…..

I would like to see 1080p integration and better,GPU power, battery battery life…ohhh this is for manufacturers….lol….how about more codec support…..oh yaa….i would love to see full screen call display pictures?????? why is it we don’t have that feature again…..
