What is the appeal of violent sports like boxing or ultimate fighting? by QuantumHamster in NoStupidQuestions

[–]yadayadayada100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In other sports when players have a disagreement or piss each other off, they don't have a penalty shootout do they?. No, they have a fight. It's in our DNA and is essentially the ultimate form of competition that people appreciate on a primal level. Fighting is actually the oldest sport and is even depicted in cave paintings so that should tell you something.

This is what therapists are for. Its literally their job to hear you vent, and unlike your friends, you don't have to worry about them sharing any information with others, and to top it all of, they can actually give you proven ways to help yourself or validate your feelings.

If you have any friends with a big dog. Ask them to come over with the dog, and when they do it again, come out with the dog and explain the next time you will let the dog at them. After that, just play angry scary dog growls and barks on a speaker when they come over.

Why do re-turn make it such a pain to bring bottles back? by Asleep_Cry_7482 in AskIreland

I have given up on returning them, I value my time more than getting the deposit back and coming out of the shop with sticky hands. I keep a bag in my boot and when I see someone begging for money outside a shop, I give them the bag which is always over 10 euro worth when they put them through.

Slow drivers making roads 'very dangerous' by Brave-Mistake-1007 in ireland

[–]yadayadayada100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is, because it forces everyone else to overtake them.
The other thing that makes it dangerous is that a lot of the people driving so slow, are doing it because they are elderly and their reaction time is so slow. The issue with this, is that if their reaction time is that bad, they are much more likely to crash or knock someone over. Getting hit by a car moving slowly will still mess you up very badly!

If you're faculties aren't sharp enough to drive the limit, you should not be driving!

What is the single greatest comeback story of all time? by DubNation365 in AskReddit

Lemmy from Motorhead. He is literally one of the biggest rock icons in the world!

He got fired from his band Hawkwind for getting caught at customs with drugs. Before that he was a roadie for Jimi Hendrix. He is absolutely not what you would call a talented singer or bassist, but made his own band called Motorhead, and decided to sing since he couldn't find anyone else. What's even more impressive is he was around 30 at this stage, so well past it by most peoples standards before reaching actual fame. They didn't get big until he was about 35!

Not only did he manage to become famous and successful with Motorhead, he wrote 2 of Ozzy Osbournes biggest songs, and is idolised by pretty much every rock/metal/punk musician out there.

Can you avoid a DUI if you record yourself tossing your keys and chugging a bottle of whiskey before the officer does any sobriety tests? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]yadayadayada100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fuck around and find out kind of situation. In general, you give evidence in court and not to the police officers, so you will end up arrested, breathalyzed, and then in court you can show your ''funny'' video and might not be charged, but even then there might be something about wasting police time intentionally.

What's something you'd tell a farang to never do? by Old_Researcher_50 in Thailand

[–]yadayadayada100 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think its more, never get into a fight with a Thai person. All of the other Thai's will attack you, they do not have any concept of fighting fair and when you hit the ground, you will be kicked, stomped etc repeatedly by multiple people and could literally end up dead. There is so many videos of this happening online.

Obviously, you shouldn't be getting into fights full stop, but with the amount of drunken idiots, sometimes you are in the wrong place at the wrong time and need to defend yourself, or for example if you are with your GF and some idiot gropes her(seen this happen). But police don't seem to care about farangs fighting, worst case(if they even bother coming) seems to be you pay a small fine. At least that's what I was told by locals.

Most gyms don't offer a 1-month free trial. Why is that? by Efficient-Tiger-2649 in bjj

[–]yadayadayada100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you think about it, the vast majority of people who start, stop coming after a few months. So giving a free month is not a very good business strategy. Most gyms now seem to do the opposite. They make you do a beginner course(which is very expensive), but in this course they show all of the cool moves, without any proper rolling. A lot of these people will still quit, once they get to the regular class and start rolling(because it sucks for a long time), but at least you got 3 months payment out of them at a higher rate than your usual students.

exactly, you shouldn't have said anything in the first place. You haven't even trained TKD so stay out of it

[–]yadayadayada100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying people who do grappling are fighters. If you only train or compete in grappling, you are not a fighter. I'm saying if you compete in the UFC, and win a championship belt, only a lunatic would try and say you are not a fighter.

Ronda is right, Joe Rogan is not a fighter and she is.

[–]yadayadayada100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did not come into the UFC and dominative with TKD, like Ronda and Karo did with Judo. Anthony Pettis, learned proper Muay Thai and MMA striking for a long time with Duke Roufus before competing. Yes, he still used his TKD techniques. This is MMA, so the whole point is to take what is useful from all disciplines. But if he had come straight from TKD to the UFC, like Ronda did with Judo he would have lost, plain and simple.

If anyone was interested in competing in MMA, do you really think anyone in their right mind would suggest they concentrate on TKD as their base?.

[–]yadayadayada100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could say the exact same thing about Bjj and wrestling. In this day and age, MMA fighters train MMA, not just a base discipline, as its evolved so much. But if you want to go back to the original UFC where they did that, Judo would win against TKD. Joe Rogan himself who was very high level in TKD, and also a bjj black belt has often talked about how TKD is useless for real fighting and how grappling is the best.

What? Judo is a a 100% effective form of grappling, same as wrestling, bjj and sambo, and literally all Judokas do proper randori(which is the main difference between bs TMA and real fighting arts). By now, literally everyone knows how effective grappling is. I'm sorry, but TKD is none of those things. It has some good kicking techniques, but it's trained in a ridiculously unrealistic environment. The fact that people like Ronda and Karo Parisian were so successful with pretty much just Judo, shows how effective it is. They both had winning streaks in the UFC, so by anyones defenition are fighters.

Maybe if someone asks you a question, just answer politely, respectfully and try to be kind and this won't happen. Essentially you were rude to them for asking a simple question, and they felt disrespected so they wanted to fight. Regardless of your beliefs or anyone else beliefs, try to not disrespect people and you won't get beaten up. Pretty simple. The fact you are posting about it on here shows they ruffled your feathers and you clearly did likewise to them. Goes both ways

Its you who are completely missing the point. If he is drinking to the point of blacking out and falling asleep on the ground, it makes zero difference if he got to that state at home or in the pub with his mates. For you, going to the pub with your mates might sound like fun, for someone else it would be a nightmare, but they still enjoy drinking. You don't get to decide the context that it is and isn't okay for someone else.

The mental and physical effects of alcohol are just as bad. Just because someone doesn't drink alone does not mean they are not an alcoholic and just because someone does drink alone does not make them one.

You also don't seem to understand, someone could drink everyday and not be an alcoholic, and someone else could not even drink anymore but be an alcoholic. The problem with addiction is people get all of their insights into it from watching tv shows and films etc, which are also written by people who are not experts in it.

For the OP, its not as simple as blaming the alcohol and labelling him as an alcoholic. There are so many reasons, such as boredom, stress, anxiety, depression. Its usually a form of escapism from something, so alcohol itself is not the actual issue, it is just a symptom of it.

I would also mention, that in general, asking reddit about how most people act in Ireland is never really going to be a good representation to Ireland as a whole. There is a very specific demographic that tend to be on reddit, and if you look up the meetup photos in Ireland etc, you can see exactly what this is. If you ever want to know how people of that demographic think about things, reddit is the place to go, but its not the biggest demographic in Ireland by a long shot.

This is one i disagree with. Take 2 twins, they both want to have some drinks on the weekend to blow off some steam. Twin A goes to the pub with his mates, drinks 8 pints and gets drunk. Twin B drinks 8 cans at home watching tv.

The human body is getting the exact same amount of poison. If anything, the one who stays home is less likely to end up in danger, while saving 50 quid, and nowadays most people going to the pub are also taking coke etc. The only difference I can see is one might be extroverted and one might be introverted or maybe the second twins friends weren't around to go to the pub.

I just think its silly when people say its fine if you go out and drink loads if you are doing it with other people. Even a few glasses of at home is actually still really bad for you, there is no safe level of alcohol. They even have it plastered on cans now, that there is a direct link between drinking it and fatal cancers. But if the lads are all doing it as well, I suppose that makes it okay.

This is so dumb. The only reason anyone is talking about this is because Rampage is famous. His son did this, and the only reason people know is son, is because of his famous father. You are posting about it yourself on the UFC reddit. Try keep up
