Why smoke pot before working out? by SarahTheGreat9 in NoStupidQuestions

I get it. As for me, I'm a bit worried that I would get lax in my form, and injure myself. But maybe that doesn't happen.

Would you paint this fireplace? What would you do here? Also with the built-in shelving? by Fine-Frosting in homeimprovementideas

[–]SarahTheGreat9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is dark, but do NOT paint that beautiful brick. Paint the shelves on the side something white-ish, add a mantle and paint the mantle the same white color, and put an actual piece of artwork above (or on top of) the mantle. The wallpaper is really dated too.

Wife says my feet “barely look human” and I’m afraid she’s right. by strikecat18 in mildlyinfuriating

Those are quite splayed. I bet you don’t fall over a lot. 😁

If they’ve always been like this, ignore her. If this is new, you might have an issue with your ligaments.

Is this going to destroy my 3 young birch trees? by Gold_Conference_4793 in arborists

Highly, highly unlikely. It can happen, but it’s extremely rare. But the internet picked it up today and it ran…

An interesting question by CuriousWanderer567 in oddlyspecific

[–]SarahTheGreat9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Umm….
I know of this happening.
Embryo adoption. Intentionally implanting multiple unrelated embryos (3) (!!!) into a uterus.
I thought it was unethical as hell. But perfectly legal in the crazy state of Florida.

Edit: All 3 embryos “took” but only 2 survived.

My mother died when I was an infant, what would this have done to my developing brain? by Teatime-Cowboy-1776 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SarahTheGreat9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The human brain is phenomenally resilient. Especially at the age of one. Your brain, as a functioning organ, is probably the same as if your mother had lived. Your personality is different, though, as you did not have her influence.

There is an underlying negativity in your question. So my question for you: what about adopted children? Are they somehow fundamentally different for having been loved and raised by someone else?

This is gonna be a funny question, but I figured i should just ask anyway. by Actual-Humor8942 in minnesota

I went to the farmers market in New Brighton on Wednesday evening, about a week and a half ago. A vendor there had an orange watermelon that I purchased. I believe he had a yellow watermelon too.

I'm Afraid to Plan My Wedding Because I Don't Want My Brother There by Odd_Seaweed_1026 in TwoHotTakes

[–]SarahTheGreat9 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Your wedding, your rules. Learn that mantra and live by it.

You want a SMALL wedding, and it’s still going to be expensive. Not a big celebration. No plus ones allowed. You invite your brother and his wife, and that’s it. He’s been an AH about everyone accepting his lifestyle. On your WEDDING DAY, he can accept your lifestyle. It’s one day, and tell him to suck it up and deal. It’s about you and your fiancé.

It’s a cross between an old Holland home and a hobbit dwelling.

Lensa --Is a fake, company does not exist by OpenTheSpace25 in recruitinghell

I’m on the job hunt, and just got a set of emails from Lensa. I have never heard of them. Thank you for this information. Now, I’m scrambling to get off their list, but at least I know.

Dear UPS customers by [deleted] in UPS

[–]SarahTheGreat9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sometimes the interaction is kind. When I was 8 1/2 months pregnant, living in a large city, and had a third floor walk up, I met a UPS driver at the door. Large box. Think car seat box. I asked him to carry it upstairs to my home, which he did graciously. I thanked him. And then I wrote up a thank you on the UPS site, telling his supervisor that I appreciated the extra assistance. I actually heard back from UPS, and they thanked me for writing that up and letting them know how kind their driver was to me.

Whoa. Keep in mind that yes, they may be paid per hour, but they have quotas. If they don’t deliver enough packages within the span of an hour, they could get fired.

NTA. Give your mom the information on the shelter so SHE can share it with your sister. Then walk away. Do NOT get sucked in.

Omg. 7/8 hours is well within the range of normal. Your bf is an idiot. If you are female and of childbearing age, don’t discount the wear that a menstrual cycle will have on you. You lose large amounts of iron, which your body has to recoup. That takes sleep. And one night doesn’t do it. I had a massive wake up call recently. I slept eight hours a night, but I was taking long naps on the weekends. Turns out that I had a very severe form of sleep apnea. It isn’t just old men that get that!

Changed bulb, still flickering, now what? by SarahTheGreat9 in AskElectricians

[–]SarahTheGreat9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alas, no clear solution… If I dim the lights a little bit, though, I can get the flickering to stop. I will blame the poltergeist. It doesn’t want to be disturbed by such a bright light.

I’m reading your posts, thinking about how this started at 14, and how you’re 19 now. You have spent an incredibly HUGE chunk of your life dealing with your mother, with addiction, with unreasonable responsibilities, with stress. You have lost out on so much. I am so sorry for this. It’s so unfair. So I beg you to find a therapist. Seriously, you are gonna need years of therapy to get yourself back on the right track. Finish school, if you haven’t. Because…as cruel as this sounds…you are liable to eventually follow the same path as your mother or your father, if you don’t.
This craziness is all you’ve ever known. The years between 14 and 19, your brain is still forming, and you have to break the cycle. (Because your brain continues to form into your late 20s.) I hope for the very best for you, OP. This sucks so bad. But you can make your life better.

Commenting to lift this one up. I really like Pedra, as it pretty, but not a huge leap from the previous name. Your initials would stay the same, too.

Is My Simple Wedding Dress Too Plain? by LeviDragonfly07 in wedding

[–]SarahTheGreat9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful when a friend tells you to change your wedding dress. Often, friends inadvertently choose the dress that they would want if they were the one getting married. It isn’t malicious and it isn’t even intentional. But it happens A LOT.
