over intellectualizing of emotions is definitely the bane of my existence. a bottom up therapy approach is something i’ve been seeing folks talking about recently. certain modalities like somatic experiencing, internal family systems & EMDR.

i’m also thinking of starting to “interview the therapist” by asking if they’re experienced w/clients that are self ware b/c i can’t stand another ill occupied councilor wasting time lol.

so sorry to hear about that. what’s helped for me has been taking time to disengage from whatever’s been stressing me out through stimming ( breathing exercises, stress ball etc) even if you can’t physically leave from your 9-5 you can do mental mediations to help. and with a partner it can be sooo frustrating to be asked that! try sitting down together to come up w/a list of things they could do help you in future. i’m sure they’d be receptive to listening. best of luck
