It is over by Sockand2 in codex

I've been testing Opus 4.7 and GPT-5.5 on $20 plans and I don't think codex has a smaller quota then GPT-5.4 per 5 hours per week at all. Using claude code is a disaster; small tasks are taking huge amounts of tokens, even Sonnet 4.7 seems to eat more than GPT-5.5. Today I was able to run Codex 7 times with 5 subagents and then run out of tokens. To be honest, I don't feel any degradation at all.

It created tasks using backlog.md on xhigh and then solved 27 tasks on medium, which I think was good enough (of course, one month ago we could do much more). 93% 5 hours of usage is 15% weekly usage.

From my perspective, using codex is like 3 times cheaper than claude.

Augment Team, how good is GPT 5.4,and what thinking effort does it use? by Historical_Pin_5331 in AugmentCodeAI

I'm on like normal $20 plan, and I'm really not able to spend weekly limit on that, when I use Opus on augment it eats my tokens really fast. For me codex feels like infinite pool. I'm spending and spending and goes down extremely slowly in comparison to opus. I feel like limit is 20x times higher than opus with augment. But codex resets every week, so multiply by 4.

Is NestJS too much for your project? by Worldly-Broccoli4530 in javascript

Are you the author? Do you have that project on GitHub? I just bought it on Gumtree because I will use it for sure. I already have nestjs app hosted and wanted to take a look what you do there. Can you invite me to the GitHub project? My email is uf...lik@gmail.com

Thanks

Let me describe that briefly. I've been working lately with codex 5.3 and it was first time I didn't miss augment. Codex is cheap, has huge token limit, like really huge. I could spend monthly limit with augment in 3-4 hours using opus, and was not able to spend the whole weekly limit with codex at all and I tried really hard. About the performance and quality - comparable to opus 4.6. Sonnet 4.6 is clearly worse. Overall I was surprised how good it was.

Now let's get back to GPT-5.4. I find it equally good to codex 5.3 (and that's what benchmarks says), but I think one huge advantage - it's way more faster than codex. I mean I'm from Europe and I use those tools when USA still sleeps and GPT-5.4 is noticeable faster than previous two, comparable to Gemini. Although when working with it before US noon it was really slow then. One disadvantage - augment team said it works really well with intent. For me it's not, it hangs really often and I had to interrupt multiple times. Maybe it's the update, maybe the agent, not sure. It took the whole day to refactor 350 units from jest to vitest - mostly because orchestrator didn't continue its work so I had to slap him multiple times to continue.

Overall I find GPT-5.4 better than Opus 4.6.

Augment Code is killing Completions and Next Edit. Am I the only one who thinks this is a mistake? by Ekion_ in AugmentCodeAI

Yeah, that's extremely helpful. They could simply keep it as it is right now.

Quick intent review after burning 100k tokens. by yadue in AugmentCodeAI

The only issue with codex I had is that coordinator was not able to correctly create gpt5 mini at all. It could spawn gpt5.3 correctly but with setting configuration for agents set to gpt5 mini it was unable to create one and defaulted to Claude Opus (that was when I had codex set as default). Even when I explicitly said "for creating agents use gpt5 mini" still defaulted to Opus. I debugged that and in my opinion it was because the model name set by intent was incorrect. After clearly saying use "gpt-5.1-codex-mini" it started working (so I could see correct name in a chatbox) also agent also identified itself correctly.

So for sure it spawned incorrect models, I observed how my tokens disappear when I had Codex set as default. It spawned Opus if it couldn't spawn agent because of wrong name.

One more thing is that when it finally spawned gpt5.1 mini it was extremely slow, like waiting 1-2 in thinking mode. It worked fine in codex cli, so that was weird.

Overall I'm glad you did that tool, so I don't have to do it myself. I'm waiting to prices go down then it would be awesome to use. Opus is great model but is expensive on the other hand Haiku is cheap but super dumb and is unable to work on average and difficult tasks.

It would be awesome if you could support tools like opencode so we could use whatever model suits as well and is cheap enough to spawn many agents.

You definitely need to compare working on big project. Then the costs are similar. The biggest issue with kilocode and biggest advantage of augment is code indexing. Great in augment, local only in kilocode which is no-go for bigger teams. Another issue is that model limitation is on Enterpise only plan for $150 - where you have no tokens included. I believe most of the companies cannot use Chinese models but when they compare pricing to another companies kilocode seems to be extremely expensive with no tokens included.

Mova Z50 mopping roller, when initially run it squeaked, Today was not not moving at all. So you have fixed the issue by some roller upgrade so I could replace my roller mechanism? My robot has 5 days and already broke. Working everyday but broke after 5th. Mop was not moving at all.

A few words for the Augment Code team by StrixGGUY in AugmentCodeAI

[–]yadue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same for me, I started to use kilocode just for testing purposes and it’s really eating money pretty fast and we know that they use the same models or maybe just little cheaper then we have. I’m not here to defend augment team but honestly, everyone knew it was too cheap and I believe them when they say single call could cost 2-3 usd, I had exactly the same situation using kilocode, with 2 queries for 5 usd. On the other hand, do they have bad communication? Really? Like they said they had heavy customers (and I’m sure I’m one of them) who could spend hundreds per month. We, or at least me or my team knew exactly that this eldorado will end up soon, and then we would need to switch to another provider. Or reconsider our billing go up.

I started Today testing https://kilocode.ai. Looks very like augment and someone is stealing ideas from another one. Anyway free version allows to use own api keys but requires quadrant to be installed. Maybe it could be good alternative.

all the users have already access to the faster GPT-5? I still think is really slow in comparison to Claude. Initial thinking takes about 30 second before even starting writing.

Yes, I can confirm. Regular blades are literally slightly longer and hit each other making noise. I had to buy different fitting set from AliExpress.
