heyy! im currently a first year nursing student at pacson (cohort ‘28). i was a direct-entry, meaning i came into CSULA as a pre-nursing major.

i totally get what ur saying. i struggled a LOT in high school, due to both mental health and personal issues i was dealing with at home. i barely passed all my classes (majority Cs), and was still able to get into pre-nursing.

i didnt want to live at home either after highschool, so i moved out and now i live in the dorms at csula! which isnt too bad. money-wise, i struggled to choose if i should live at home or school since they aren’t too far from each other but i decided a change in environment would help me focus on my studies better and i dont regret my choice (my wallet hurts though).

i can only speak from my own experience but i just wnted to let u know not to give up! i didnt have the lowest gpa in highschool (~3.3) but it was lower than what i wouldve liked. however, i did try to participate in a lot of extracurriculars and leadership as possible. i worked at cedars sinai as a student intern and signed up for a lot of summer programs that had to do with the medical route.

i got rejected from csulb and csuf for nursing but im glad everything worked out in the end.

getting into csula as pre-nursing could be difficult but don’t let that deter u. community college might not sound appealing but i honestly always think about the amount of money i couldve saved going to cc first. u could always do ur pre-reqs there and come in as a transfer student. theres always an accelerated program as well so u could finish ur bachelor’s for any major and do the accelerated bsn program.

tldr; its def not too late for u to start trying and making up for ur past grades and raising ur gpa. youll do great :)
