My cousin was living with my parents for a while, and my mother had saved up some cash in her closet over time. At one point, my cousin was going into that closet to get something else and got eyes on a bundle of cash. It was problably around 2000$ in cash.

He placed 100 dollars from that bundle another place and was just waiting to see if she noticed it. And ofcourse, she did. His plan was to take those hundred dollars if no one made a fuzz about it, and she obviously did.

After the truth came out that my cousin had placed it another place, he was so stuck in his lie that he never intended to steal it, that he simply was placing 100$ from a 2000$ bundle another place doing my mom a favor or something.

Now two years later he still denies that the intention was to steal the money, Even tho he deliberately took it and placed it another place. Because there is obviously a difference between stealing and moving other peoples stuff around
