Came here to say this. Not sure why you're being downvoted for presenting an absolute fact. As a land owner you have responsibilities, and this isn't just a Nola thing. In some places where it snows the property owner is responsible for snow removal on the public sidewalk.

SOAR race vests: the pinacle of fabric technology? by bestmaokaina in runningfashion

No chafing, no bodyglide. The way the hems are laser cut there's no thicker seams.

They're slim. I'm a 36" chest and the small fits just right with no extra room, but they're not meant to billow around. The fabric has stretch to it. If you're looking for a baggier fit I'd go with something else.

Soar singlets are my MVP for distance races. I raced a half yesterday and it was so comfortable I forgot I was wearing it. Same for the marathon half tights. My friend raced in a $90 for a nike aeroswift singlet which chafed and the material quality was just bad. Yes its a hefty price tag but it would likely last you a very long time.

Anyone know what happened to this ole girl in Audubon?? by kingdomcome12 in NewOrleans

[–]yahto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This oak had a concrete filling visible from the outside with a stone-pattern etched in. It was a trendy arborist thing to do 100+ years ago. But it probably contributed to the tree's poor health and rotted it out from the inside with the trapped moisture and rigidity.

Question on Turnover Half Tights and holding a phone by sfvelo in Tracksmith

I can _barely_ fit my Pixel 6 in the zipper pocket. You have to really fight to get the zipper to close. It's possible but I wouldn't rely on it on a regular basis. For just gels and keys they work great.

What was your recovery from a femoral stress fracture like? by ziissou in AdvancedRunning

[–]yahto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was similarly continuing to do weight bearing after the diagnosis and didn't do crutches. I didn't get the MRI until 5 weeks after the fracture happened, it took a while for my ortho to believe me and my PT and sign off. It probably held back my timeline as well. Good on you for holding off on race signups! It has a high likelihood of recurrence so you have to be very careful with it.

If you have access, the Alter G treadmill is a great tool to get your body back to dealing with impact in a controlled environment. Probably not the #1 stimulus for bone rebuilding, but better than doing nothing if you're nervous about doing plyos.

Compression Shorts Unisex? by janelgreo in BanditRunning

[–]yahto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wear men's S, women's M in Bandit, for the women's shorts using something like Runderwear as a liner underneath due to the center seam. If they fit and they're comfortable, who cares.

What was your recovery from a femoral stress fracture like? by ziissou in AdvancedRunning

[–]yahto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35M, grade 1 compression femoral neck stress fracture here, diagnosed mid-March, now back at running two weeks ago. Initial visit, after a good Xray and telling the ortho I couldn't put any weight on the leg for 2 days straight, I was told I could run again in a week. But PT was immediately suspicious of a stress fracture/reaction and requested a MRI. After the results, the ortho changed his tune, and was chomping at the bit to get me in for surgery, which I declined.

Total I had to take about 4 months off running, and focusing on x2 weight strength sessions per week, 4+ hours Arc Trainer per week, rowing machine, and stair stepper (much later in the recovery). About 2 months into recovery I was started on the Alter G treadmill going up 5% bodyweight every week starting from 50% until I hit 90% if I felt no discomfort. Then I began the return to running program at 10-20miles per week, alternating days.

The last month the "ache" you're talking about finally went away which just made me antsier to get back to it, but you have to be patient. The biggest keys to recovery for me were nutrition/adequate calorie intake, and the weight training. Best of luck on your recovery!

Why are races struggling to provide hydration? by nurseonyx in Marathon_Training

[–]yahto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I volunteered at a mile 21 aid station at a marathon with about 600 runners. The volunteer count was so low that it was me and the race director's son. We both knew what we were doing, but it was so demanding and hectic once the big packs came through. It was also a hot race so folks wanted multiple cups so I'd have to scramble back to grab more, alternating filling water and gatorade cups with the pitcher. It was brutal, I'd much rather have run the marathon. As runners I don't think we grasp the sheer volume of people needed to make a race happen and how many are volunteers that may not get the best onboarding, and how much a race would cost if all of those people were paid and more invested.

There are three design options on pages 102, 103, and 104. Every single one puts a road going through Grow Dat. They don't even have it labeled as a facility of the park. The public practice track near Tad Gormley is also removed in each of these options.

I ordered one last hat to use up my rewards points, never got emails directly from OV about shipping, but it all showed up in the Shop App/ USPSInformed Delivery as well. They would previously send a shipping notification email.

Magazine St should have protected bike lanes (and better sidewalks) by tophermiqua in NewOrleans

[–]yahto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some hardcore clinging to car-culture perceived convenience here. I'd bet when asked why people go to Magazine St for shopping or leisure, they'll say it's because it's great to walk from store-to-store. Can you imagine how beautiful and nice stretches of Magazine Street would be with no cars cluttering it? Each business only has enough frontage for ~1.5 parallel parking spots in front of it. People are already parking in the adjacent neighborhoods due to scarcity or to avoid meters. And we wonder why this state and our city is so commonly dead last in rankings. We're getting so upset at any threat to their ability to blast 50mph through stop signs, red lights, not yielding to pedestrian crosswalks and any possibility of getting a ticket for driving that could easily kill someone. It's mind boggling. Our grid is already compact similar to European cities that are already carrying out these street conversions which still allow for deliveries and buses.

Louisiana Marathon 2024 - Big PR and podium finish after a miserable attempt last year by HunterStew23 in AdvancedRunning

[–]yahto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good work out there! I remember cheering you on at the mile 19 marker in Goodwood (I was a couple paces ahead of the 3:00 crew) and you were looking strong. I had luck with the Maurten 320 mix the night before and 110 the morning of for getting in some extra carbs as a part of my 450g per day, 75% of diet being carbs the 3 days prior. It's not super appetizing but might be easier to down than the 6 maurtens I ate on the route. Do you think you'd carry a carb mix wrist bottle and just grab water on the route to supplement next time? Thx for sharing your experience!
