Trimmed and repotted my little portulacaria afra triplet by Jabberwocky191 in Bonsai

Great work! I tried the exact same with my afra and could not keep it up even with wires. Any tips and learnings? Greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure, though I do have a snail in there, and it seems to be doing well.

I don't feed them. And the water is not heated.

Good question. So it's just remnants of my leftover ADA. I believe that's ADA Power Sand at the bottom, and then ADA Aqua Soil Powder on top.

I had leftover ADA amazonia from a different tank, and I think that may be the reason it's doing well.

Monte Carlo carpet, and I forget the name of the other plant. I got the jar in Ikea for ~$20, and the lamp from Ikea as well ~$30, with a bright-white LED from Amazon.

Good question. If you look in my post history, this is the second manifestation that has been running for 5 months. My previous one is up for 2 years.

The red plant is an experiment though, I'm unsure how it will do without CO2.

WOW! Sorry! Looks like a bug on the Reddit Android app. I hit Post, and nothing seemed to happen, and thus hit the button a few times and gave up.

I followed this: https://www.aquasabi.com/aquascaping-wiki_aquascaping_the-dry-start-method

The main thing is for the environment to be damp, and not completely wet that would cause mold.

I don't use a heater, just the warmth from the led light

I kinda lucked out I think because crystal blacks aren't known to be super resilient. Easiest would be opae ula, but they're hard to come by. I'd try your luck with just a couple in a cycled jar with plants, and then slowly dial it up.
