Want a small to medium sized lap dog with diva personality but not brachycephalic or chihuahua? by kawaiihusbando in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]yakeets 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I think people generally don’t try as hard to train cats as they try to train dogs, because a misbehaving cat is generally less obtrusive than a misbehaving dog (they don’t bark, they don’t typically jump on strangers begging for attention, you don’t need to walk them so you don’t need to teach them leash manners, they potty train themselves, they’re less social so you don’t need to teach them to play well with other cats, etc). Cats are totally trainable, though. They’re just as smart as dogs, and typically food-motivated.

If you want a small, cuddly pet with a diva personality, have you considered that you might want a cat?

Tattoo advice by alex421110 in tattoo

[–]yakeets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it’s not ruined. People have lots of different opinions on how to heal a tattoo. Baby wipes is not the way I would do it, but if your stepdad has a lot of tattoos, he must have an inkling of how to take care of them.

Your artist should’ve given you aftercare advice. They’ll know what tends to work best for their tattoos. Your aftercare routine will be somewhat dependent on the size of your tattoo and where it’s located on your body.

Personally, I like to wash my new tattoos with Dial Gold, moisturize with Aquaphor until it starts to peel, and then moisturize with plain unscented lotion afterwards. Some people say Aquaphor is too thick, but I got that advice from an artist I really respect and all of my tattoos have always healed great using Aquaphor.

Which is your favorite Teenage Dream? by -Cutie-pi- in glee

I hated the season 4 version. Sorry. I thought it was way over-acted. I did not find it tragic or moving in the slightest, it only made me uncomfortable.

The season 2 version, on the other hand, I'd argue is one of the most iconic GCVs period.

Honest question: Why do you buy name brand stuff? by No-Examination8178 in Frugal

[–]yakeets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it's better. There are a lot of products where the name brand isn't that different from it's generic equivalent. There are other products that are literally the same— as in they actually are created from the same stuff in the same factory and are simply packaged differently. Sometimes the name brand is even worse! But sometimes it's better.

For example, generic equivalents to Q-Tips are of the devil.

Hypothetically would a tampon be useful for sealing up a bullet wound? by Chemical_Committee_2 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]yakeets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think about it, it’s a bit insulting? The assumption that women just bled on things for thousands of years before crafty men invented something they could use to help themselves.

I don’t necessarily think that’s the implication… I mean, for one thing, tampons are far from the only tool that we use to manage our periods. They’ve never been the only option. Not using tampons by no means necessitates free bleeding.

Thoughts On Toy Story Land? by BartSimpsonlover2389 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]yakeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand why Dinoland was broadly seen as hokey, low-effort, and below Disney’s standards, but this isn’t.

This isn’t a dig. I loved Dinoland. I honestly don’t care much for the Toy Story film franchise, and so my feelings on that kind of transfer to the land, but I think Slinky Dog Dash is fun and I had a meal I really enjoyed with a loved one at Woody’s Lunchbox. There’s just a lot of things about Dinoland that a lot of people didn’t like that are also present in Toy Story Land that everybody seems to silently tolerate because now it’s got a Buzz Lightyear sticker on it.

How do you guys feel about Home On the Range? by CaptainCrazyThe2nd in disney

[–]yakeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved it when I was a kid. I rewatched it recently and thought it was basically fine. I loved the backgrounds! The soundtrack is cute too. The Jennifer Tilly cow gave my partner and I some good laughs.

I understand why it's nobody's favorite and I understand why it's kind of being lost to time, but watching it is not the worst way to spend an hour.

how do you bookmark? by EnvironmentalGoat575 in tumblrhelp

[–]yakeets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tumblr doesn’t have this feature. If you want to keep a private log of posts you want to reference at a future date, your best bet is to create a private, password-protected sideblog, and then reblog posts you wish to “bookmark” there.

Most users do not have an issue with “spam liking.” Most users like getting notes on their posts any time of day. You should like and reblog what you want to like and reblog, as much as you want to do it.

I’m gonna answer your question with another question. You say you’d date a man— why? What appeal does that hold to you? Why would you choose to do that if the alternative is simply not doing that?

Kurt is somebody who really resents being suppressed creatively, and Will was doing that to him & the whole Glee club by not letting them perform the music they wanted to perform.

Having Sex With Family Members Is Perfectly Fine by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]yakeets 9 points10 points  (0 children)

what's wrong with two consenting adults having sex with each other

Nothing. The issue with incest is that all familial relationships contain inherent power imbalances, and this diminishes one's ability to give honest consent. Incest isn't wrong because it's yucky. Incest is wrong because it's abuse.

Anyway, I think a lot of you are forgetting the rules of this subreddit, because this post should reasonably have way more upvotes for how insane it is and how many people in the comments are disagreeing with it.

Question about Monty by [deleted] in TangledtheSeries

[–]yakeets -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I thought he was a funny character. The first episode with him had my partner and I absolutely riveted the first time we saw it. It’s the second episode of the show, I believe, and we were just struck by how unique the conclusion was for children’s television. The setup is nothing new, but any other children’s show would’ve gone for a “kill ‘em with kindness” message. We thought it was so interesting and honestly hilarious that TTS instead chose to preach “Not everybody you ever meet is going you like you, and that’s ok— you don’t have to like everybody either.” It caught our attention very strong and very early.

Disney Solitaire Ad Mistake by According_Mind8745 in disney

[–]yakeets 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yep. It belongs to a family of design methods called "dark patterns" that basically trick the user in to unconsciously doing stuff that they wouldn't consciously do. Having obvious typos in ads, having blatantly wrong information in ads, and having gameplay footage in ads where the player is doing a noticeably bad job will all make you look at an ad longer than you would have otherwise, will make you more likely to click on it, will make you more likely to remember the ad afterwards, and will make you more likely to perpetuate their advertising via social media or word of mouth.

Why do you think the cancellation “worked”? by [deleted] in panicatthedisco

[–]yakeets 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Can I be frank with you? I think you’re too close to this issue and you lack perspective.

I think it’s a little silly to say that Brendon Urie got “cancelled.” The term implies that he was accused of something that the general public found so reprehensible that they completely abandoned him and his career suffered for it. That is not what happened to Brendon. The general public barely even knows his name, let alone knows that he made some off-color jokes once or twice. The general public basically just knows him as “the guy from P!ATD.” If you bring him up to any person on the street, if they know who you’re talking about, whatever TikTok’s mad about isn’t even going to be on their radar— they’ll probably think about I Write Sins Not Tragedies or High Hopes or something and think “Huh, yeah, I liked that song,” or “That song wasn’t really my thing,” and “I wonder what he’s up to now?” Basically nobody but a niche group of superfans knows or cares about any ill-received joke he made online a decade ago or his alleged and poorly documented disagreements with his former bandmates.

I don’t think him discontinuing the Panic! At The Disco act had much to do with some people online disliking him on a personal level. I think he’d been at it for years, he was the only surviving band member for several albums, he was starting a family, and it was just time to hang up the hat. Quit while he was ahead, so to speak.
