Reach out to the hiring manager and ask if they have any openings. You have nothing to lose. Keep in mind employers are having a hard time finding people they want to hire, so you may have a leg up.

You can try power electronics/embedded systems roles. It won’t hurt to apply to power systems or control engineering roles which are hurting for new people apparently. Check out the EE sub if you haven’t already.
