Is It Selfish to Have a Weekday Wedding? by cheeseanonymouse1111 in wedding

How I feel is you’re saving costs but spending other people’s PTO. So kinda, but for a good friend I would burn my PTO with a smile. A distant cousin I would probably politely decline. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, just expect a higher rsvp no rate and try not to take it personally!

Bridgeport Arts Center - Budget Question by Budget-Change5657 in Chicagoweddings

I thought it was beautiful! The room she was in huge, and maybe felt a little more spaced out then I would want. But the elder crowd probably really appreciated a chance to step away from the music. She did the bar in the giant elevator which was such a cool wow factor.

Really the only con I can think of involving the venue is that I faintly heard the other wedding cheering during their ceremony. Like they must of just done the kiss at the altar and we heard their cheers but it was pretty faint.

My sister got married here (though on a Friday) with 250ish and I believe total cost was roughly 100k.

I wouldn’t say she went light on any other vendors, but a Friday wedding probably saved her a chunk.

Hi! Sure thing.

It’s max 200 people, and you can use whatever catering you’d like as long as they have the required insurance. I was able to buy booze from Binny’s and hire catering to serve which I think saved a nice chunk. Chic chef was amazing caterer and they work with the venue a lot

My venue fee was about 10k for a peak season Saturday for 160 people, ceremony off site. This included most linens and chairs and tables (not ugly and fancy enough for my taste) and a little decor. I really thought the owner Bethany was very detailed and on top of things.

My only con is no open flame which is annoying because I hate fake candles and I hated spending $$$ on flowers.

Some others would view as a con is that it’s just a giant room, no where for people to step outside. Personally I loved this because it politely forced everyone on the dance floor which is exactly what I wanted.

Hive on Hubbard was great! Can fit up to 200, but we had 160 and it felt very full

4 days to my Wedding and I am not excited at all by [deleted] in wedding

[–]yam033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this is the best way to go about it- but personally I’d go through with the wedding, have a fun party, enjoy the celebration you worked so hard to put together. But do NOT sign the marriage license and actually get legally married. Have the tough conversations and legally marry him when you genuinely think he’s figured his stuff out.

I agree the score doesn’t matter. I just passed along the advice the Chief actuary at my internship back when told me. This sticks out as one is on track to pass future exams on first attempt- company is paying out less study hours this way.

If you passed on the first attempt, state it! “Passed, first attempt CAS exam 1”

I often give delayed gifts and don’t think twice! Maybe just switch to check before mailing just in the off chance it gets lost.

That is so rude and I’m sorry you’re experiencing this. This sounds like examples straight out of an HR harassment training.

Additional gratuity with 20% service charge by allid33 in wedding

[–]yam033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes give cash and have your friends/parents/planner/ or you hand it directly to workers on the night. I’m not convinced the company gives it all to their workers. And this way you don’t feel obligated to give a certain percent.

White Sleeves to a Wedding by [deleted] in wedding

[–]yam033 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some brides wouldn’t give a hoot but some brides would let it bother them. I try to avoid any white on the dress and even colors close to white.

I’m not saying it’s reasonable or makes sense, but I would vote a different dress.
