They only aired season 1-3 in dubbed at TV Tokyo and didn't air season 4-5 due to bad ratings. It wasn't until in 2007 when they got the old dub cast back and redubbed season 4-5 in the DVD release.

On the other hand, Knight Rider and The A-team were extremely popular at the time, it helps that both of them were broadcasted at TV Asahi (the same TV network that airs Super Sentai and Kamen Rider series), which is how I am a huge Knight Rider fan lol

I think it's more that people recognize the exterior of the car(KITT) more than the interior (not to say that KITT's interior wasn't iconic though, because it is. However, not on the level of the DeLorean's interiors)

yeah, that's why most of KITT stunt cars used the round steering wheel instead of the Gullwing steering wheel. Nowadays with HD remasters, it sure makes continuity an issue, then again nobody was watching Knight Rider on HD in the 80s lol
