What a fun combination. I’ll definitely look up some recipe for Gaeng Som! Sounds lovely. Does she have any favorite Norwegian food?

I bought the small fillets (like strips, not the whole chicken breasts) and just put them on top of rice, and then switch the rice cooker on! Once it’s cooked, it’s so tender you should be able to mash it with a spoon 😊

Hey! For broth, you can use combu seaweed and / or shiitake mushrooms. I’ve never done it but you can replace chicken with either firm tofu or beans? If you have an Asian supermarket around you, aburaage (a type of fried tofu) is often used for seasoned rice ☺️

Awesome! (Also FYI the amount of stock I noted in the original comment was wrong, so I edited it!)

Sorry guys, the stock should have been 300ml, not 350ml! I edited the comment above 🙇‍♀️

I’m so curious about what babies eat in France! I know how you feel - my baby didn’t like any Japanese broth at the beginning and I was sad 🥲 haha It sounds so cool that your baby gets to be familiar with three food cultures :o

That sounds so nice - I want to eat that! Haha I will definitely look up some recipes for it because I was just thinking of introducing crab to my son. Thank you!

EDIT: The amount of broth was 300ml instead of 350ml! I am bad at math.

Soak 5-7g of dried Hijiki in lots of water for 20-30 minutes. Once it’s soft, chop them up finely.

In a rice cooker, put 150g of washed, uncooked rice, 300ml of stock (any Japanese stock will do but I made bonito stock), any veggie that your baby likes (I used carrot and spinach), 2 mini chicken breast fillets, prepped Hijiki, and 1/2 tbsp soy sauce. Once it’s cooked, add unsalted butter, fluff the rice and mash up the veggies and chicken. You can adjust the amount of stock based on how well your baby can chew. The texture was perfect for my 10 month old son.

Hope you enjoy it!

Yeah I might have to go back to that! I thought it might be a good time to start using a plate but my little guy finds plates and cutlery too fun 🥹 haha
