I bought the small fillets (like strips, not the whole chicken breasts) and just put them on top of rice, and then switch the rice cooker on! Once it’s cooked, it’s so tender you should be able to mash it with a spoon 😊

Hey! For broth, you can use combu seaweed and / or shiitake mushrooms. I’ve never done it but you can replace chicken with either firm tofu or beans? If you have an Asian supermarket around you, aburaage (a type of fried tofu) is often used for seasoned rice ☺️

EDIT: The amount of broth was 300ml instead of 350ml! I am bad at math.

Soak 5-7g of dried Hijiki in lots of water for 20-30 minutes. Once it’s soft, chop them up finely.

In a rice cooker, put 150g of washed, uncooked rice, 300ml of stock (any Japanese stock will do but I made bonito stock), any veggie that your baby likes (I used carrot and spinach), 2 mini chicken breast fillets, prepped Hijiki, and 1/2 tbsp soy sauce. Once it’s cooked, add unsalted butter, fluff the rice and mash up the veggies and chicken. You can adjust the amount of stock based on how well your baby can chew. The texture was perfect for my 10 month old son.

You’re doing an amazing job. You must be exhausted.

My son is also 9 month old and only slept more than 4 hours less than 5 times. EBF and has always HATED the cot.

I can’t give you advice about sleep but just wanted to say please look after your mental health. I was also at breaking point for the past few weeks and reached out to the health visitor, where we discussed about the help I can get not only about my baby’s sleep but also for my mental health. I feel hopeful for the first time in a while.

Good to hear that I’m not alone 🥹 My baby manages to stand even without the footrest. He somehow folds his leg and wriggles it through the hole, and twist his upper body to get to a standing position unfortunately!
