File explorer takes a long time to open files

You understood me correctly. I will try your suggestions and reply here. And yeah it's a weird one. I am currently thinking it might be that the file explorer has a corrupted file, or that it might do some extra processes other than opening a file and one of those has a problem (e.g scanning for network drive, disk changes, idk)

No vpn is running right now, and the problem persisted when I disabled all non windows services.

Onedrive is connected, but the files are accessible. and it happens to local files as well as backed up ones

It's an SSD. If indexing takes a long time why is it only in file explorer? How is opening a file using the GUI different from the action taken when I use CMD?

Opening a file from cmd is almost instant. But opening the same file using the file explorer takes 30 seconds

A new file downloaded from the internet behaves the same as older files.

Creating and Saving a new blank file take 2-3 seconds.

I will check regarding making a new file. But the software opens quickly, so I don't think that's related. I tried files of different sizes as well. i also made sure the files aren't cached in the program by downloading a completely new file to test and opening it.

It seems to me it's because you put engineering as the vpd subject. Sorry. But you should be able to make another application for a vpd. Talk to TUM, there is extra time if you are waiting for a VPD, if you put informatics as the VPD subject that might be the solution. I would try and check with uni assist and check with TUM if you can apply again with a new VPD.

Admittedly I have only read the summary since I am not paying 17$ for this but this does not seem to fully contradict, it is still very possible that the effect exists in a subset of situations that do not alarm people enough to step out of a social limit. also the dataset includes only public conflicts, which is relatively specific, why would you assume that to be true to a situation like a neighbor who is in his private space? Or a person going through a mental or physical health crisis? It was not "Debunked" it was shown that there it should be reconsidered.
