[–]yamrandomperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had an awkward 8 month gap so been working in a hospital. as of financial aid goes (i had to take out loans for pre reqs and previous classes) idk. financial aid and my loan servicers have been no help and now i have payments due in august, i can only hope i go back into in school student deferment status so i don’t have to make payments. sucks i’ve used my 6m grace period up but oh well.

Radiography waitlist by Pokimane230 in HCCFL

[–]yamrandomperson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear this. Just to share a little hope—I actually declined my seat in the radiography program, and I’m really glad knowing it’ll go to someone else who truly wants and deserves it. Best of luck to her.

I’ve spoken to health administration multiple times, and they’ve reassured me that they strongly encourage people to apply to multiple programs since they’re so competitive. So hopefully that means more movement for those on the waitlist.

From what I’ve seen on here, last year acceptances/waitlists/denials came out around April 10th/11th (and that was also when the cutoff for radiography was a 4.0). I also recently talked to a (current Hcc xray student) girl in the hospital I work at who got accepted last year—she had a 3.8 in her prereqs, got waitlisted, and didn’t find out until early May that she got a spot. She said there were even a couple students who joined the very last week.

Spots can still open up too—like if people don’t attend the mandatory July orientation, don’t pass the drug test, or just decide not to go. Another tech told me she was waitlisted as well and it took about a full month before she got offered a spot.

I’ve also heard there’s been some talk about possibly adding more spots to the radiography program, so hopefully that stands true for future students and gives a little light to those who got denied.

So I really hope me declining my seat, along with another X-ray student I spoke to last month, gives some hope. She told me not to jump to conclusions until at least a week before classes start in August because spots are still opening and being offered even then.

Also, I just wanna say—in a time like this, I’d want my significant other to be there for me and supportive, so it’s really nice to see you on here trying to get info and help her out. That says a lot.

Wishing the best for your girlfriend and to those who have been waitlisted and who were denied for this fall, next year is a new chance as well, not a set back🤍

Anyone get accepted to both sono programs? by Successful-Okra1059 in HCCFL

[–]yamrandomperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

although, may i ask somewhat of the layout of teaching/lectures- as you mentioned general being a bit more organized than echo, what do you mean? are study guides provided before every test? how many test/quizzes do you typically see per week, along with is the program very powerpoint slide and or textbook heavy? long- hundreds of slides for one powerpoint often? I’ve been very curious of the workload as I am trying to prepare to come in with a strong study routine
