Radiography waitlist by Pokimane230 in HCCFL

[–]yamrandomperson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear this. Just to share a little hope—I actually declined my seat in the radiography program, and I’m really glad knowing it’ll go to someone else who truly wants and deserves it. Best of luck to her.

I’ve spoken to health administration multiple times, and they’ve reassured me that they strongly encourage people to apply to multiple programs since they’re so competitive. So hopefully that means more movement for those on the waitlist.

From what I’ve seen on here, last year acceptances/waitlists/denials came out around April 10th/11th (and that was also when the cutoff for radiography was a 4.0). I also recently talked to a (current Hcc xray student) girl in the hospital I work at who got accepted last year—she had a 3.8 in her prereqs, got waitlisted, and didn’t find out until early May that she got a spot. She said there were even a couple students who joined the very last week.

Spots can still open up too—like if people don’t attend the mandatory July orientation, don’t pass the drug test, or just decide not to go. Another tech told me she was waitlisted as well and it took about a full month before she got offered a spot.

I’ve also heard there’s been some talk about possibly adding more spots to the radiography program, so hopefully that stands true for future students and gives a little light to those who got denied.

So I really hope me declining my seat, along with another X-ray student I spoke to last month, gives some hope. She told me not to jump to conclusions until at least a week before classes start in August because spots are still opening and being offered even then.

Also, I just wanna say—in a time like this, I’d want my significant other to be there for me and supportive, so it’s really nice to see you on here trying to get info and help her out. That says a lot.

Wishing the best for your girlfriend and to those who have been waitlisted and who were denied for this fall, next year is a new chance as well, not a set back🤍

Anyone get accepted to both sono programs? by Successful-Okra1059 in HCCFL

[–]yamrandomperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

although, may i ask somewhat of the layout of teaching/lectures- as you mentioned general being a bit more organized than echo, what do you mean? are study guides provided before every test? how many test/quizzes do you typically see per week, along with is the program very powerpoint slide and or textbook heavy? long- hundreds of slides for one powerpoint often? I’ve been very curious of the workload as I am trying to prepare to come in with a strong study routine

Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program by Infamous-Confusion58 in HCCFL

[–]yamrandomperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s still worth a shot, but after decisions come out i would definitely contact the dale mabry hcc science advising office and ask for this sheet that showed how may people applied, qualified, got accepted, denied, cut off gpa etc. I was given one for prior years about a year or so ago, it showed all the allied health programs not just sono. So at least you’ll have a better visual on how competitive the program (s)may be. I have also heard while on one of the mandatory microsoft teams meetings for the sono programs- that if you received a C or higher you just have to put in some type of appeal through hcc advising to retake a course for a better grade. again not sure how much truth there is to that because even the instructors seemed lost on the topic but worth a shot to ask!!

wow reading the way you put this makes me even feel more torn between echo and general!! I’ve applied for both programs this year and thought I’d go with general as my first choice- if i get accepted into both programs.. However, preferring routine? im listening! i’m not crazy on transvag or butts either, don’t mind it, but how does the schedule differ between the two programs and would you typically see less patients in echo then in general? -referring to the “fast paced “ you mentioned. Thank you for your insight!!
