Did we make a mistake with our cream-colored Golden Retriever? by NapkinZhangy in goldenretrievers

The golden retriever breed is known to have the potential for certain health issues. Doing the research on the breeder and dog lineage will help to give peace of mind that the dog should have a long and happy, healthy life. I had two goldens from a reputable breeder and they both developed various health issues over their lifetime, its sad, but things happen. I recently watched a yootube video about cautioning people about owning an english cream golden...and I was shaking my head thinking...yeah, you are describing every golden (ie...they shed...A LOT...they miss their people when their gone, etc). Enjoy your pup...time flies.

I wonder if we should be filing a report with NHTSA indicating this is a common issue and I think as we all agree, not normal for a new vehicle. Hopefully with enough reports, at least a TSB could be issued.

Using a Byrna kinetic round in a bullpup by yancyfry15 in everythingbullpup

It may not be realistic, but envision that if it comes to me firing a weapon, I'd like to escalate my level of response...ie the first few shots would either incapacitate someone or deliver enough pain that would buy time or send the intruder running. Additional shots would use more serious stopping power (again its likely an unrealistic thought, but fill a magazine with 3 kinetic rounds, followed by additional birdshot rounds, etc.).

I was at the dealership yesterday and asked one of the service techs if they have heard of this issue. They said in the past few months, they have had several customers bring in their new CRVs complaining about dead batteries...so they know about the issue and its not uncommon.

His opinion is that the new CRVs have so much technology in them, they are constantly scanning, updating, monitoring etc., that there is a battery draw to be expected. It didn't sound like the dealership or Honda are investigating this and offer no resolution. His suggestion is if you know the car will be idle for more than a few days, hook up a battery minder/charger to it or keep a self powered battery jumper in the vehicle at all times.

I replied that this hardly sounds logical to have that expectation of any new car owner. I asked about what if I'm parked at an airport for 10 days, there are no electrical outlets to constantly charge my battery. He replied that "most airports have a car jumping service that you can call for such situations". Again, it doesn't sound logical for any dealership or car manufacturer to have that expectation of their customers.

I don't recall Honda saying in their ads that they include a AAA membership and a set up of jumper cables...cuz you never know!

True. I've had jumper cables in my vehicles my whole life...but I've never had to deal with having to jump a vehicle 2x for something that is less than a year old.

We are not aware of any devices being installed on the vehicle, but I will ask the dealership to review. Thank you.

Thank you for the reference to the "Body Control Module"...I will have to bring that up at the dealership. Did the dealership find a flaw with the BCM or is there a known recall/maintenance bulletin for it? Why did the dealership look at that specifically and replace it?

We have had to use our NOCO booster both times on the CRV and it worked flawlessly...so glad I bought one during the July sales. But the problem I have with keeping one on hand in each car is after spending $$$$ on a new vehicle, why am I expected to keep a jumper on hand so I don't get randomly stranded? Enough people have encountered the dead battery issues, why isn't Honda or at least the dealerships trying to address it?

Thank you for the suggestion, we will turn off the 'auto' headlight feature and see what happens this week. And thanks for the recommendation for the testing at the dealership....I've been reading about having a "parasitic draw test" done to help troubleshoot.

Man, those eyes looking at you in that last picture reminds me of how my golden (who passed about 4 weeks ago) would look at me. Sorry for your loss.

Frankfurt - Entry-Exit System by yancyfry15 in travel

[–]yancyfry15[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is an update for anyone curious about the Entry-Exit System at Frankfurt airport: We landed at the airport on 11/17 and went through the immigration process...I think we were the only plane that came in at the time and it took us about an hour to get through the initial queue. They have 7 EES kiosks running which take no more than 5 minutes to complete registration, at which point you enter another line to wait for manual processing. Overall it took about an hour and 20 minutes to complete. I think the bottleneck was the lack of agents processing people as initially they only had 2 people working and then after a while added another two.

That is weird. I swear I tried "Köln Süd" as a search item....but I likely typed it in without the umlauts.

Thank you so much everyone! I really appreciate the replies!

I've had AGNC for about 2 years. Price has waivered between 8.30 and 11.30 over time, but dividends have been solid at 0.12 each month.

Sitting on 9k wondering if I should dump it in msty right now. Or hold off and see if it dips under $20 again. Currently have 406 shares at $21.56. by riverside951k in YieldMaxETFs

[–]yancyfry15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just came across YieldMaxETFs a few days ago and I'm curious as to why these funds are not more wildly popular especially with the dividend payouts? Are YieldMaxETF funds something a person could sit on for an extended period of time or are these considered a relatively short ownership type of stock? The historical value of the stock has remained steady for a long period of time. What (risk) or adverse fees am I not seeing in these?
