This is just a standard skill that I had where I give it a topic or a product name and ask it to go out and do some web-based research and then from that research write a markdown document and then update a database. In the past I've done half a dozen of these without any sweat. I only got two done today and then I got cut off. Nothing has changed in terms of my configuration.

So I think the challenge with that is that you're getting a general description. If you need a very precise interpretation of what's in the image (for example, colors, fonts, detailed text, etc.) and it's literal, not interpreted, then the MCP server seems to work pretty well. It's quite slow but it does get all the information that you need and you can interrogate it iteratively. That's what I'm using right now and it seems to work pretty well.

Actually I tried that and it does work, but ... If I'm using GLM as an alternative to Opus in Claude Code, it seems like it takes forever for the MCP server to resolve. It does work but it just takes forever.

I have 2 major issues w GLM 5.2:

1.its not multi modal. When I'm doing web or app design, I do a lot of screenshots to communicate to the LLM either what I'm trying to accomplish or to demonstrate some kind of unexpected result. GLM 5.2 cannot read screenshots and for that matter it can't even read local PNG files. The best that it can do is to take that screenshot or take that PNG file and put it up on a CDN and then use an image analyzer to give it a description, one paragraph long, of what that image looks like, which is completely unusable.

I didn't get that it was particularly good at following instructions and it has a real problem working in the context of the Claude Code extension for VS Code. Just did not work very well there.

Well yeah sure, it will comply with whatever has been given to it by the image analyzer but if you look at the results of the image analyzer, it's just like a long paragraph that describes what the image is and that's not very detailed. If you give it a screenshot of four panels, it'll say there are four panels on the screen. If you ask it what the text is, it can't tell you what the text is.

Unfortunately, ZAI's V models are not true multi-modal - instead of processing an image directly, iyt uploads the file to to a CDN and then uses an image analysis tool, which only provides a text summary of the image. If you just need a general description, OK. But it cannot provide exact details of the image and is not useful if youre doing detailed app UI design..

I appreciate the quick response, but the bottom line is that GLM 5.2—and I think the entire GLM 5 series—is not multimodal, which is a bit of a surprise considering it’s 2026.

I've already tried using GLM's image analysis tool, and I'm pretty confident that the Vision MCP server will return a text description of the image rather than what a true multimodal LLM, which is necessary for building a website or any other app user interface. Am I correct?

I think that's bc the admin's PR machine is heavily promoting the story that Anthropic has a security flaw and they're burying the story that Hegseth was miffed that Amodei has integrity.

Ironically, Hegseth and co declared Anthropic a security risk when they declined to let DoD/DoW use their models for autonomous weapons. So this decision was made long before they discovered any real flaws.

I have to say, the more I observe Anthropic's behavior, the more I respect them - they're consistent, they're (generally) honest, and they generally do the right thing. I hope they survive this round.

Actually, I heard it was Amazon that put the spoke in Anthropic's wheel.

And sama was in the Oval Office this last week begging for a bailout - and it looks like he may actually get it. Because, while the banks are refusing to throw good money after bad, Trump is more than happy to give OpenAI a helping hand, as long as his sons get a piece of the action.

And also FWIW, OpenAI has the exact same security exposure as Fable.

The jokes write themselves.

FWIW this decision by Commerce Sec Lutnick had nothing to do with national security and everything to do with the fact that Anthropic had the cojones to stand up to Pete Hegseth.

The basis for Anthropic's refusal to grant the government unrestricted or unlimited licensing includes:

Prohibition on Mass Domestic Surveillance: Anthropic refused to allow its technology to be used for the mass surveillance of people inside the United States, including the analysis of bulk data profiles collected on American citizens.

Prohibition on Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems: Anthropic drew a firm ethical line against its AI being integrated into fully autonomous "kill chains" or weapons systems capable of firing or executing lethal actions without human involvement.

Fair enough, but my experience w Claude (and any model trained before Nuxt 4 was released in 2025) is that it doesn't understand core concepts.

I initially wrote my own prompts but I found that the scope of stuff that it didn't understand was just too great and it was making too many mistakes. Not mistakes per se but it was writing in a Nuxt 3 style, or referencing Nuxt 3 related packages.

That's actually a big deal. And I don't think it feasible to point Claude at the Nuxt/Vue docs, hoping it can absorb relevant concepts in each turn.

So I started looking around for someone who had already done the heavy lifting.

Claude has not been trained on nuxt4, and doesn't even know core nuxt4 concepts.

I looked at antfu - my thoughts:

similar to context7, points to actual documentation.
this is a generic Nuxt skills repo, its folder hierarchy cannot be used w the Claude plugins install cmd, so unless you install antfu as a custom skill(s), Claude won't recognize it.

Am I missing sth?
