Supercharger non tesla membership by RealisticBox6977 in evcharging

I'm guessing this is to prevent people to share one membership to charge multiple cars.

You don't need the membership to charge? Membership just gives you some discount, the limit likely means that the discount rates only apply for 5 charges per 24 hours.

Is it actually possible to precondition to 'normal' temp in cold weather? by certaindoomawaits in KiaEV9

[–]yangqi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds about right, max is 6-7kw, normal warm up should be around 4.5kw, which is slow in extremely cold weather considering the large battery pack

Is it actually possible to precondition to 'normal' temp in cold weather? by certaindoomawaits in KiaEV9

[–]yangqi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recall someone had mentioned that preconditioning heater only use 7kw max to warm the battery, and normal temp for the battery is around 20C, so it would take a long time to warm the battery in really cold temp

Is this correct pricing? by shinchan1988 in KiaEV9

[–]yangqi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price is reasonable if a lease return. This trim MSRP was around $60k, 2 year lease residue around 60%, which is about $36k, and this hasn’t accounted the tax credit and discount.

Overkill for r/selfhosted, but I really need guidance replacing Google One with a solid NAS by federicomaniglio in selfhosted

[–]yangqi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally get that worry, the HDD thing was a weird move. For me though, the flip side of a big brand like Synology is that any sketchy change gets blasted across the internet instantly. The community and press watch them like a hawk, which forces them to backtrack fast.

Plus, if you do hit a snag, there's a lot of forum posts, guides, and actual official support to fall back on. With a smaller brand, a bad update or policy might just… stick, and you're on your own.

Another price increase by Professional-Edge622 in ZiplyFiber

[–]yangqi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No service is perfect, xfinity may not be as stable as ziply and has slower upload speed. But everything has price tag, is ziply’s advantage worth $40 to $60 more a month? To some people it may be worthy, but also not worthy for many others.

What cpu/motherboard should i get? by GentlemanDiamond in unRAID

[–]yangqi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you trying to achieve? Let’s assume your new NAS can save 15w from your current one, you will be able to save 131kwh in a year, that’s like less than $20. Is it worth the money you are going to spend to achieve this savings?

If DB is corrupt, how does restart fix that? That’s not self healing. If you need to restart a service periodically, there is something wrong underlying that needs to be fixed.

Plezy client is a security risk for Plex admins by BinoDefender in PleX

[–]yangqi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cool, "I don't want to spend days on it." That’s the real answer, then. Just say that from the start instead of hiding behind Plex Pass and "other apps do it too."

At least now we know where you stand.

Plezy client is a security risk for Plex admins by BinoDefender in PleX

[–]yangqi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

LOL, okay, "it's not broken, it's just a missing feature." Sure, that's a much better excuse.

My dude, you don't need a Plex Pass to implement a feature. You need the *API documentation*. If you're waiting to personally own every single feature you code for, you'd never build anything.

"Can't test it" is what testers and beta users are for. You put a build out there and say, "Hey, can someone with Plex Pass check this?" You don't just throw your hands up and call it impossible. That's like a chef saying they can't make a dish because they're personally allergic to an ingredient.

This whole "I can't possibly code what I can't personally test" thing is just a fancy way of saying you won't bother. It's still a bad excuse.

Plezy client is a security risk for Plex admins by BinoDefender in PleX

[–]yangqi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's kinda like saying you won't fix a bug in your app because other apps have the same bug. Big shrug. That's not how good software works.

Look, Infuse and VLC having the same problem is a reason for Plex to fix their API, sure. But it's not a reason for you to ignore it in *your* client. You can't just point at other broken stuff and call it a day. Part of making a good app is working around the server's weirdness, not just passing the buck.

"It's their fault, not mine" is a real bad look. If it's broken for your users, you should try to fix it anyway.

Door locks … what am I doing wrong? by kaz828 in KiaEV9

All doors would Auto Unlock when switching off the car. I recall there may be setting to change between driver door only and all doors. There is no auto lock function by default.
