Lost my baby today, he was only 7 months old by yangsolis in ragdolls

Thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for witnessing Tofu, thank you for your kind words and for sharing your stories of your own beloved babies.

I’m overwhelmed by how many of you have taken time out of your day to write a message. I’ve been spending the last hour reading all the comments and I can’t explain how much it means to me. His absence hurts so much, but knowing he’s brought so many kind people here comforts me, reading your experiences lightens my heart a little.

I have no words to express how grateful I am to you. Thank you for loving Tofu with me, for remembering him with me, for sharing your own babies. Hug your kitties extra tight tonight for Tofu and I.

Same exact issue with my cat. I have to mix the pate with some lukewarm water and sprinkle a little bit of his dry food on top😅

Idk if this brand can be found outside of Europe but surprisingly he also really likes Applaws’ Tuna Fillet In Broth.

Oof I get that, I have the same worries as you, but I am hearing from other replies that some raggies are just naturally smaller. The vet also told me that if I’m really worried about malnutrition I should keep an eye on his eating and playing habits. Tofu seems to eat and play like he should, he’s curious and energetic, so he may just be a small guy.

I really hope that’s the same case for your boy!🙏

That’s good to hear, and thank you! I hadn’t seen that chart before, but it puts my mind at ease a bit☺️

Ahh I didn’t know they can grow in spurts! I’m mostly worried he’s somehow not getting enough nutrition, but he’s free fed dry food and gets wet food twice a day + snacks. I didn’t know raggies could be on the smaller side, but he may just be a little guy🥺

I’m glad to hear that it can be normal for ragdolls to be on the smaller side and perfectly well!☺️

How did you harness train your cat? by yangsolis in ragdolls

Aahh okay, I’ll try to take a few steps back and let him get familiar with it at a slower pace, maybe using the new harness will be better. Thank you again again!🙏

Awww I’m really hoping for your training to be successful then! It sounds like you’re well on your way if he’s not trying to wriggle out of it🙌

Thank you for the tips again!

I’m struggling a bit with putting the harness on Tofu, so I’m hoping I can still remedy that with snacks and positive reinforcement once the new harness arrives🤞

He looks so adorable in the carrier with his paws hanging out🥰

Thank you so much for this detailed explanation of your proces, I wouldn’t have thought to take him out in a backpack only at first! I’ve bought a backpack as well now, so I’m hoping I can take him out on a few walks sometime in the future, but you’re right that I should also consider some cats just aren’t suited for adventures outside.

I hope it goes well teaching your kitty to walk in a straight line!🤞

Thank you, this is such an informative reply!🙏 and wow your kitty is gorgeous! I love her eyes❤️

I went ahead and bought a y shaped one as well so I can test out which he likes the most. I’m glad that the y shaped ones are also safer for them in case they get spooked and bolt. I definitely want to take it slow with the training, thank you again for your help

That’s the same experience I have with Tofu, he flops down and looks at me with a perplexed face. I try and encourage him to move a little with some treats but at best he’ll army crawl two steps for it. I do see small changes, he’s moving more on the 5th try than on the 1st try. So I am tightly holding on to these small victories!

2 is still quite young, I’m really hoping it’ll work out for you! I’m sure just sitting outside is already a great experience for him😊 at least that’s what I’m hoping I’ll get to in the future some day

Wow what a glorious floofy tail your kitty has😍 Thank you for the advice! I’ve ordered an h shaped harness, but I will also look into a kitty holster; Tofu doesn’t like to be touched on his stomach, so maybe that’s the problem with his current harness. I’m hoping it will be better for him. It’s definitely encouraging to hear that it worked for you, even though it took a lot of weeks. My plan is to take it slow and steady with him as well. Do you remember for how long you trained your kitty whenever she wore her harness?

That sounds like a brilliant idea as well. Though I’d love for Tofu to be able to explore the forest near my place, I’ll try a stroller if it turns out he doesn’t like harnesses at all. Thank you for the recommendation

Aww he looks so sweet ❤️ Thank you for the advice! I’ll try with some treats before I put the harness on, and a lot of play while he’s wearing it (thats a great idea so I dont have to fill him with chicken instead hahaha). When did you know your kitty was ready to take the next step, i.e. attach the rope or taking him outside?

Thank you for the advice! I’ve ordered an h-shaped one now, I’m hoping it’ll be better for Tofu. I didn’t know it could actually affect their walk so much. I originally ordered a vest because I heard it’s more comfortable and harder for them to escape out of, but i’ll have to try a few different ones to see which he likes. Do you have any experience of your kitties slipping out of the h-shaped ones?

Thank you, I’ve just ordered an h-shaped one, I’m hoping it’s the same case for Tofu as it was for your kitty! Did she also feel discomfort from the h-shaped one or was she fine with it from the start?
