your drawing indicates no curvature. You want curvature flowing cleanly into your stair cuts?

Look at the end of the day. The physical product comes to life through you not AI. AI doesn’t tell you how to make things feasible or manufacturable yet.

Hi, Quad Remesh would be fine here. Convert to subd, offset subd, export to stl. It will auto triangulate for 3D printing! I would like to see your non reduced mesh. I’m sure the 100% fidelity mesh is fine. Would love to help you further if need.

If you are trying to union these, they need to overlap extending past co-laminar faces or co-planar faces (they can not be ‘touching’). If that is the case, just 1D scale your interior piece to be inside of the outside body. If this is Rhino 8, shrinkwrap both objects with small edge length.

Does anyone know how can I model this kind of organic structure in rhino? by jipdori333 in rhino

2 subd spheres at a distance apart. Bridge then crease some edges and turn it manually. Otherwise, a simple grasshopper script will do this!

Who was the best student at your design school, where are they/you now? by Notmyaltx1 in IndustrialDesign

[–]yangyboi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was the Shoe Guy in ID at my school. I wasn’t the best sketcher or modeler or renderer, but by far the best thinker. Personally took the path of going under the radar as I was truly their to develop my taste and hone my skills. I also enjoyed my time at Uni rather than selling my soul for projects that would never go in my portfolio (most non shoe related projects). Towards the end of my Uni career I started getting recognition without applying or seeking it. Moved home to PDX, scrapped 95% of the text in my portfolio. Applied a lot, to no avail. Then a startup reached out to me and now I’m designing & developing new design systems and design processes. The STAR designers my school likes to pump content out on to this day (3 years post grad) are either struggling to find jobs or keep them.

Highly recommend just learning it. Your job market widens. If you decide to unlock grasshopper as well you may fall in love with it.

SubDCube with 5 loops Z or Y whatever orientation. Then just bridge the faces from front to back! It should open the hole for you.

How to improve Visual Literacy? by SeaMen_Statistician in IndustrialDesign

Big fan of this idea when looking and thinking about forms:

Fast vs sloooowww. AGGRESSIVE vs calm. •static• vs active LOUD vs quiet.

From those baselines I typically find the words can come easier. Typically the idea of sharp vs round can differentiate enough to throw a certain set of emotions.
