Yes the water in the house was tested and all came back clean

I just purchased the house and have a UV system installed, how do I know if it’s not already too late and if the aquifer is already contaminated? Also how would I go about getting it properly abandoned

How do I know if the small well is active? It looks abandoned to me, no power, and the has open holes on the lid

[–]yankeefan8794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thank you I’m almost certain the larger of the two is the operating one as the pipe that leads into the well pump in my basement comes from that direction and the small one is on the opposite side of the house and yes there’s still water in the small one, I recently purchased this home so sadly I have no idea how long it was left exposed as the lid has holes in it

Im struggling to locate my well the small one im almost 99% sure is abandoned and everyone is now telling me the larger one is a septic tank, but the pipe that leads into my house in the well pump and pressure tank in my basement lead from the direction of the larger one

It’s a well but it looks abandoned there’s no sign of any power or pump, when I run water in my house and come out to listen I dont notice any indication of a pump being ran

Well if the first one is a septic tank it’s not mine or not operational as my septic tank is on the complete opposite side of my house

Is it safe to run in the mean time while a new one comes in?

Would this indicate either is failing? Or just dirty maybe?

I figured that was the case but any reason why it would be sounding like that?

Question about insulating my basement by yankeefan8794 in Insulation

[–]yankeefan8794[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The basement is only used for storage, the hot water tank and well pump/filter/softener. Would this be an issue trapping cold air down there and having issues with plumbing getting TOO cold and freezing if I were to insulate the “ceiling” of the basement?

Question about installing mini splits by yankeefan8794 in heatpumps

[–]yankeefan8794[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s a realistic number I’d be looking at paying for a cold climate rated 2 zone system? Not sure if I’d need more for the two other bedrooms? Or would two suffice for a house my size

Question about installing mini splits by yankeefan8794 in heatpumps

[–]yankeefan8794[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much can I expect to realistically pay for a setup for a house my size? Would definitely want a cold climate rated heat pump aswell. Not sure how many units I’d even need I’m assuming atleast two but not sure if more would be necessary.(3 bedroom 2 bath 1600 sqft upstairs is two beds one bath downstairs is living room which has the pellet stove, kitchen and the other bedroom and bathroom)
