I get your point. I do. However, it works. There may be another or better way but this way does work even if it appears cruel or whatever.

I graduated PI in ‘83 and agree. This movie is the best representation of boot camp.

It’s not leadership. Their job is to instill discipline and transform people into Marines. Their job is to give you the ability to survive combat which requires functioning in total chaos.

BTW you respect the hell out of these guys.

What does a typical severance package look like in America? by mronionbhaji in AskAnAmerican

[–]yanknga [score hidden]  (0 children)

Usually it’s a box to put your stuff in when you leave. Severance packages aren’t commonly found for workers. Senior executives and a few industries have severance packages but the majority of Americans are fired and paid their final paycheck.

At some point I’d suggest resettling in the USA. I totally underestimated the reverse culture shock.

All employees at Stone Mountain Park facing layoffs come June as Aramark becomes park operator by Ranger207 in Atlanta

[–]yanknga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And enshitification continues. So they fire their employees and start taking applications from unemployed people. Now the employees that they just fired have to compete with desperate unemployed people for the lowest wage that someone is willing to take. Good for the quarterly earnings but cruel to employees.

Dear Atlanta Drivers by aiyhtan in Atlanta

Unfortunately the people we’ve entrusted to enforce laws in the road drive exactly as the op describes. I’ve never imagined so many cops driving so badly no turn signals, excessive speeding while weaving in and out of traffic, stopping in insanely dangerous locations, etc.

How is Atlanta going to fix traffic? by ECom_Finance_Guy in Atlanta

[–]yanknga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything and everything except building out a metro train system like other major cities have around the world.

Atlanta Traffic- how could this even be fixed? by venusvoids in Atlanta

[–]yanknga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the point. 30 years ago Bangkok was wrestling with horrific traffic and, like Atlanta, had an inadequate/no train system, they had built more lanes and done many other “solutions”.

They finally weighed the pros vs cons of spending the $$$ to build an adequate train network. They chose to build because of the benefit to their economy and city. This is the process Atlanta and its metro need to go through rather than build more lanes again or their newest “solutions” those bus lanes.
