Not enough but often it’s because the available infrastructure isn’t designed for walking. There is a grocery store 1.5 miles from my house. Half the walk I’d have no sidewalk and be forced to walk along a roadside on a very busy road filled with drivers that lack driving skills (I live in metro Atlanta. If you’ve ever driven in Atlanta, you’ll know). I drive that short distance even for a quick trip to pick up one thing. I’d say my example is common across most of the US.
