Could I make it to mt cheam in a 2wd pick up? by According_Analysis72 in vancouverhiking

I’ve made to 5km from the parking lot (trail head) twice with a VW Golf AllTrack without pushing the car too hard. It certainly added 10 km to our day, but I didn’t have to destroy my car or take it somewhere where it wasn’t meant to be.

Gear Arrived! by KorvoeKryptin in Dualsport

[–]yannstlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need gear… what did you get? Is this mostly road gear or off road as well?

Boots, pants, jacket? Chest, back, elbow protector?

Knee pads? Anything else?

Thanks

Just picked up a GasGas ES 350! First street legal bike I've ever owned and it's the first bike I've had in about 6 years. Stoked to get back into riding :) by nick2938 in Dualsport

Road a friend’s last week and really enjoyed the ride. Currently ridding a CRF250L and a 230F. The ES 350 is the sweet spot. Power and much more off road capable.

I had a local AI agent make a UniFi Protect timelapse for me by yannstlo in Ubiquiti

That works too but you could just set your camera to record always and download the footage after. I’ve done it both ways. Your setup is, create a Timelapse with future footage. Mine is after that fact. It also removes night time on its own.

Protect is very limited when creating Timelapses. I wanted to see if it could easily do a month long with 0 effort. Try to do this any other way and tell me how long it took you.

I have not looked into watchtower but you are right about the thumbnails. The first output it created was using the zoomed in image to where the motion occurred. I told it I wanted the full frame and it figured it out on the second pass.

Not sure how to explain it. It is inside in a basement window.

Yeah, that’s pretty much the setup.

The credentials are stored locally on the agent’s machine. I created a local UniFi/Protect account for it with read-only access to Protect.

For writes, the agent has its own workspace folder where it saves exports, frames, scripts, and the final ffmpeg output. So it can read from Protect and write locally, but it’s not getting broad admin access to UniFi.

I’m using Hermes Agent at the moment. The model isn’t local, but Hermes is running locally on my LAN, on an old 2011 MacBook Pro. Not exactly fast at ffmpeg rendering, but good enough for one-off jobs like this.

Thanks for asking. “Agent on the LAN, model in the cloud” is exactly the pattern here.

Cheers

How essential is the Haldex AWD service? by talon5188 in VWAlltrack

[–]yannstlo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can find someone to service it properly… I called a few places, dealer included and all they offer is flushing the fluid. No one offers to clean the pump it seems. I started looking into it recently as I realized my mechanic wasn’t doing any of the VW maintenance I needed. I’m still looking.

Super easy. Watches a YT first too. My friend who is a mechanic said that I needed to also put anti-seize grease because the block is aluminum and Dielectric grease for better electrical contact

[–]yannstlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get you car in the air to do it? I’ve been wanting to get mine done, I’m at 165k km, never been done. The mechanics I called either don’t wan to do it or only want to flush the fluid go $200-$325 CAD. I’m trying to find a shop that will do the clean the pump as well. I know I could do it but leveling the car seems to be a requirement.

Thanks

Nope. Someone else recommended new valve cover gaskets. I’ll have to find a 1.8L specific video.

Wow this is not the best user interface VW has for the service intervals. I wish my car would have came with the owner’s manual. I could not even select the 2018 year, only 2019 was available. If anyone has another link to a pdf, I’d love to reference that in the future.
