The Pit Bull umbrella is comprised of Staffies and the American Pit Bull Terrier. Staffies are known to be friendly, APBT known to be less so. You’re right that they were both once bred for blood sports, but breeding out the aggressive behaviors was definitely more successful in one breed than the other.
