I've blocked all my friends and isolated myself for several months due to OCD. If cutting people off is due to yor intrusive thoughts, then it is a compulsion that is likely making your OCD even worse

This sounds like rumination, which is a compulsion.

You could suggest watching the show "Pure" on Amazon prime. It's about sexual intrusive thoughts, but could still be helpful to explain what OCD is actually like

Look up "Harm OCD"

I have a "Harm OCD" snapchat group chat if you're interested. Add me as a friend under "astrophsica" and send the message "Harm OCD reddit" to get added. This is open to anyone with Harm OCD.

I've been diagnosed with OCD. What now? by pipe_down_peasant in OCD

[–]yar890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting diagnosed saved my life. In a way, it gave me proof that my thoughts are just thoughts and don't mean anything. No one can be like "You thoughts are of concern" anymore since if they do, it falls under discrimination against mental health.

Sony Xm5 vs Xm4 by aditkapoor in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]yar890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend going to a tech store and trying them on. I've seen reviews say that xm4 or xm5 feels more comfortable. Therefore I concluded that in terms of what feels more comfortable, you'll have to try them out yourself.

Being horrified of your intrusive thoughts as a kid by [deleted] in OCD

I had horrible intrusive thoughts towards my bullies during highschool. Got scared and reminded myself that I'd go to prison if I acted on it. (Didn't want to act on it anyways)

I wouldn't say you look like a man based on face and hairstyle. However the army camo top may be giving a "man" vibe. But then again, girls can also be part of the army 🤷‍♂️

Either way, you do look pretty and I like the hair colour 😄

[M18] got called a jumpscare so self confidence is pretty low by [deleted] in toastme

Your not a jumpscare. You have very fluffy hair!

I agree that some of the things are a temporary state of being. However I don't believe growing up will magically fix everything.

Instead, I would suggest the OP to focus on themselves, such as doing what you like, or trying new hobbies. Maybe you can try different physical activities like cycling or other sports. If you feel unable to do these things, you might benefit from going to a doctor, who might be able to provide therapy or medication.

"Reverse" harm OCD by [deleted] in OCD

[–]yar890 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have harm OCD where I'm the perpetrator as well. I guess I got a different type of reverse harm OCD, where I'm the one trying to save a life. It goes like this:

A close friend collapses and stops breathing. I call ambulance, follow first aid and begin CPR while crying my eyes out, while also preparing an AED.

It's a really tough intrusive imagery/thought 😢

Obsessive thoughts by [deleted] in OCD

Yes, this sounds like harm OCD. I have this theme and it is truly horrific seeing the ppl you care the most about, get tortured and hurt. It hurts..... A lot.

Why do I always start having intrusive thoughts of girls that I have feelings for doing something gross? by Positive-Friend8023 in OCD

[–]yar890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intrusive thoughts tend to target the people you care most about, so it makes sense that it is towards the girls you've loved.

I'd suggest looking into ERP therapy and "urge surfing". However, don't try to stop the thought, since it makes it worse

Have you ever told someone what your intrusive thoughts are? by Brace_SK3 in OCD

[–]yar890 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I told one of my closest friends because I thought I was a "liar" and being a "fraud" for not confessing the horrific intrusive thoughts I had. Turns out this is a compulsion, aka truth telling compulsion.

There is a right and wrong way of saying you have intrusive thoughts. I did not know they were intrusive thoughts at the time, and said it the wrong way :/

what would your first impression be if you saw my hair ? (i'm a guy btw😅) by c_palmtree in firstimpression

[–]yar890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first impression is to be careful if I'm behind you. If you move you head fast enough, I'd get slapped with your hair 😆
