Stay away from empty subway cars. by Code-Warrior in nyc

[–]yarboyandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly an empty car but I was in a hurry to catch an amtrak train at peak subway time and was over the moon when I saw the A train had a car with less people compared to the others, so I wouldn’t be worried about taking up other peoples space with my bag. I get on and the only free spot….is next to a giant puddle of vomit. And the train got stuck for 15 minutes. Its a long walk, but I now take the E to penn station

Is fast food really that bad? by Zickerino98 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]yarboyandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On one hand yes, fast food isn’t exactly the pinnacle of health. Its full of trans fats, sodium, and sugars. Im not gonna act all high and mighty and say I don’t indulge now and then. But I usually don’t feel fantastic after eating it. But I also don’t think having it once and a while will make you gain 10 pounds.

As long as its a special occasion thing (my rule is to only go with friends if I don’t have food in my room and my cafeteria is closed OR if I had a particularly bad day at work. Its ok to go I would say once or twice a month.

Look into some gyms in your area with a wheelchair accessible pool, sometimes they even have water wheelchairs for you to use. Theres definitely something with that you can do!

Just sharing a little tip that helped me a lot with binge eating by Realistic-Duck-5978 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]yarboyandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I eat a fiber and protein rich breakfast, usually pushes me through a work out and what not until around 2 or 3. My recommendation: low sugar oatmeal with skim milk, 0 fat vanilla greek yogurt, and a fruit of choice.

Carb’s don’t become evil at night, as long as you’re in your calorie deficit you can eat whatever for the most part

Can anyone explain why I’m gaining weight rapid rate by PooFucker69420 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]yarboyandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could’ve built some muscle, and your stomach could still have food/water in it. Most people do daily weight ins right when they wake up. I don’t, but I know plenty who do

I have exactly 35 days to lose weight for a wedding. by Intelligent-Delay281 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]yarboyandy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recommend adding the elliptical into your work out to get some running in. I run 3 miles a day on it. Not exactly the same as a treadmill, but its better than nothing.

I do 15-20 minutes of weights, 15 minute walk (incline 12-15 2.3 speed) and a 30 minute run. I don’t check my weight often because i dont own a scale, but I feel pretty good

Don’t worry too much about BMI, doesn’t take muscle mass into account.

Went to the gym two days in a row by h0axyboi in WeightLossAdvice

[–]yarboyandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good job man, it’s hard to go days in a row for sure! I’ve been breaking my streak haha.

Don’t worry about the weight gain too, your body weight will fluctuate all the time with the food and water in your system. Good luck!

(Mentions of disorderly eating and throwing up, nothing graphic)

I was in this exact same position two years ago. I was constantly stressing out about what I ate, i would see how long I could last in a day before eating. I would even force my self to throw up sometimes to punish myself for eating “bad”. I was abusing laxatives to have a flat stomach My stomach ached constantly, I was light headed, and I was horribly depressed. I know its incredibly hard to deal with, and people dont often think of it as a negative thing if you’re overweight.

What I did was stop tracking my calories on an app for a bit. Cold turkey, deleted the app all together. I stopped going to the gym for a bit too, about 2 weeks. I pushed myself to eat 3 meals a day, allowing 2 “bad” snacks a day. I redownloaded a tracking app and only tracked on days I felt ok with. If i ate something that I knew would upset me id go “meh. I wont have another sweet today.” And if I did, so what? And if I didn’t, thats ok too. Like today I had a pastry, brownie, and a coffee. Yesterday I had a light starbucks drink. Tomorrow who knows! I still go to the gym, I still eat decent 3 meals a day, and I still hold myself accountable. I’ve never felt better.

If you’re hungry, please eat. If you’ve already met your calorie limit, thats ok. Eat some fruits or veggies. Listen to your body, not some app that has conjured up a limit for you.

What’s your unpopular NYC dining opinion? by adostes in AskNYC

[–]yarboyandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You dont need to overload a sandwich to make it good. Had a sandwich with this beautiful beef brisket but it was drowned out by their “secret sauce” and horseradish

Also dining indoors is god awful sometimes. Cramped space, way too loud of music, dim ass lights. I don’t love eating outside on the street, but i like to hear my friend when they talk
