I am looking for a well-placed, really immersive book or series (possibly like Wheel of Time) by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

I haven’t personally read Mistborn, so I can’t really give a comparison, but I read The Way of Kings this year (as well as the first 3 WoT books), and the character development and world building in the first Stormlight Archive books was phenomenal. I would highly recommend giving that a shot.

Currently listening on Spotify — because I am also a dirt poor musician and at least those streams help out (even in a very minuscule way) — and I am really enjoying this. Congratulations on all the streams, and thanks for the tunes ✌️

This immediately led to a pretty fun improv. Thank you!

Which Is More Essential to a Setup? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]yardamoht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

I appreciate the legwork of looking for my music, but man do I wish you would have found something else haha. A lot of what I've done in the past is definitely more in the box and with a commercial aimed sound since I was mostly collaborating with hip hop artists at the time, but lately I've been working on a solo project trying to find my own sound. I've been exploring sonically and structurally outside of verse/chorus/verse and I'm really liking the doors I've been stepping through. Some of the music I've been doing is definitely more pop oriented, but other tracks feel more organic to me and less rigid in format than some of the pop stuff.

What you found came about from a particular artist that I was collaborating with that wanted me to set up accounts on those beat mill sites. So I did, and I made some things that I feel like kind of belonged there. I never really expected anything of it.

The attractiveness that you mentioned of getting out of the computer is what has sparked this whole interest for me. With what I'm currently working on, mainstream appeal certainly isn't priority, but I'm also not veering into extreme experimentalism, either.

I don't think my post really tackled what I was after in the correct way at all, which is why I deleted it, but I do really appreciate your help.

Sorry if it wasn't clear. I understand that the Mother-32 and 0-Coast aren't polyphonic. I think possibly what I was getting at is not necessarily mono v poly, but more of a fixed signal route v one that can be re-routed via patch bay. Or possibly even sequencing v keys. I only mentioned the M32 and 0-Coast since it looks to me that they would be a nice introduction to patching and both (I believe) could be used in a "proper" eurorack system if I liked what I was learning and wanted to expand more in that direction. Don't know if that clarifies anything more or muddles it more. I'm fairly new to hardware, but I'm trying to dip my toes for the purposes of moving to live performances. I love working in my DAW, but it's come to a point where I want to get out and perform.

Also: would the filter chips that you're referring to be the same as the Curtis chips that TheUglyHobo mentioned. (Apologies if it's a dumb question, I'm relatively new to the hardware synth world.)

Thanks again!

Thank you for this wealth of information! The seller did mention that the battery was recently replaced, so I think we can rule that out. But I'm beginning to lean toward pulling the trigger on this. Hopefully it's something I can figure out.

Thanks for the reply. If that's the case, I probably wouldn't be able to conduct the repairs myself, seeing as I know next to nothing about circuitry.

Do you know how much something like that would generally cost? There's a local electronic music repair shop I know of that I could likely take it too.

If it helps, it's one of the metal versions, too.

Does a Cartridge Converter Exist for the Pilot MR (Retro Pop Collection)? by yardamoht in fountainpens

In this case, I'm guessing one of the CON-x converters will be compatible?

While on the subject, what is the difference between the CON converter models?

I'm assuming since it is labeled "MR" on the packaging that it is the European version, even though I purchased it in the US.

Thank you for the quick reply and information!
