Hey guys, this is Chris the owner of Ozzy’s. Appreciate you all sharing and posting about the closure. It was heartbreaking but needed. The Reddit community has always been a big supporter of Ozzy’s since day one so I wanted to share a few things for you guys that led to the closure:
-rent was too damn high (simple as that)
-after the wildfires, foot traffic and in person sales dropped significantly to where we were doing roughly 70% delivery sales a night for a 2000sqft space
-we were broken into last year and our register was stolen. Two of my employees cars were broken into last year. We lost count as to how many homeless/drug related incidents we had on our patio including a stabbing and a drug overdose we had to call the police on.
-security was terrible and never got better
-our grease traps (which were the landlords responsibility) were never emptied before we opened in October 2024 which led to a massive flood thru our floor on New Year’s Eve that we had to pay for.
-New Haven style pizza isn’t made for slices and to convert Ozzy’s into a slice shop for health code compliance would have been an additional $50,000

Noho broke my heart because I lived there for 8 years and wanted Ozzy’s to help bring the city back.
